If the mods could move this to the tournament announcement forum that would be gravy.
Beanie exchange is trying something new. A texas holdem tournament for a mox ruby held at the beanie on saturday october 7th.
the address: the beanie exchange 632 kings highway west springfield, ma 01089 phone: (413)731-0001
starts at 12. buyin:$20.00 prizes: 1st place mox ruby, 2-8 based on attendence.
The tournament structure is going to follow foxwoods' structure with 8 people per table.
Each player starts with $1500 chips
Blinds go up every 20 minutes. blinds: ante: level 1: 25-50 level 2: 50-100 level 3: 100-200 level 4: 100-200 25 level 5: 200-400 50 level 6: 300-600 75
race up $25 chips
level 7: 400-800 100 level 8: 600-1200 200 level 9: 800-1600 300 level 10: 1000-2000 300
race up $100 chips
level 11: 1500-3000 500 level 12: 2000-4000 500
remove $500 chips
level 13: 3000-6000 1000 level 14: 4000-8000 1000
if the tournament goes past level 14 blinds and ante's will continue to rise every 20 minutes.
Looking forward to a great turnout, magic players love poker, so this will be your chance to play for a real prize

This structure is really bad. Let's say you have 40 total players. After 2 hours when the level is 400-800 there will only by 75 big blinds in play in the entire tournament. I would suggest a different structure

this is the exact same structure that foxwoods uses in all of their no limit tournaments. granted, its been a long time since foxwoods only had 40 players at a NL holdem tourney, they used the same back when they did have a low turnout. The goal of a tournament isnt to play for 10 hours, there has to be pressure on people to play hands.
Also, after 2 hours, we should already be near a cut to the final table, so assuming 40 players, when 10 remain, the chip average per player will be 6000. At 400-800 that buys you 5 rounds which is more then reasonable.

First of all, their structure sucks anyways. 2nd of all, the smallest starting stack in their NLHE tournaments is 2K chips.
Oh well, what would I know about poker anways. Good luck with your tournament

If you want to play in the world series with 1 hour levels and 10k starting chips, go to vegas dude.
I know you've been pursuing poker for a long time so you should have no problem beating up on a bunch of scrubs in west springfield. Why not come down and show us the skills instead of trashing our tournament without even going once.
I'll go 1 further, I'll challenge you to a $100 freezeout Brian. Friendly competition, it gives you another reason to come and enter the tournament, and maybe walk out with a days pay at a 4-8 table.

Sorry I don't check the site very often so I just saw your post now. First of all do I know you? Your sn doesn't ring a bell
My intention was never to trash your tournament, I was just trying to give you some advice. I hope you have a great turnout. But I'm actually playing in another tournament that day, so I won't be attending. Not to be one to back down from a challenge though, if you really want to play me in a freezeout PM me and I can set up a private tournament on Pokerstars.

13 people showed up so we ended up just doing store credit to 1st-3rd instead. It looks like a tournament like this is going to happen every saturday up at beanie. Fewer and fewer people keep showing up to the type 1 tournaments there so Dave wants to try something different.
