I just thought of this out of the blue and thought it would be pretty unique for a creature steal.

Pull of the Tides {7} {U}

Enchantment - Aura

Enchant Creature.
Affinity for Islands.
Enchanted creature has islandwalk.
The player who controls the most islands controls enchanted creature.

I'm really not sure on the formatting of the card and whatnot so lemme know.

Current Version:

Pull of the Tides {7} {U}

Enchantment - Aura

Enchant Creature.
Affinity for Islands.
Enchanted creature has islandwalk.
The player who controls the most islands controls enchanted creature.

Very very interesting.  I think the casting cost might be a tidbit high.  I'm also worried that you're trying to cram too much onto one card, but all the effects are very synergistic.

I like the idea a lot. Nice for it to have affinity for islands.

Yes,Tarmogoyf is probably better than Chameleon Colossus, but comparing it to Tarmogoyf is like comparing your girlfriend to Carmen Electra - one's versatile and reliable, the other's just big and cheap.(And you'd run both if you could get away with)

What would be a realistic casting cost for this then?

The casting cost seems fine to me, its not all that good in a multicolor deck (Assuming all your lands dosnt count as islands) But isnt affinity for basics supposed to work this way anyway?

With 4 islands in play this costs 3U which is about the same as control magic.

Exactly, which makes it pretty fun IMO in terms of a blue vs blue match.

I really like it, its got that Vedalken Shackles taste to it.

I think the CC is about right, because as ppl have said, you can cast it on 4 islands, maybe 4UU would be ok too.  It means you can't get it down to 1, but you can cast it off 3 islands (or 2 islands and 2 non-islands).

I can't really see this going below 7 CMC. Control Magic is fair. Threads of Disloyalty with no restrictions is not. I don't ever want to see this cast on turn three without acceleration. I think 8 is correct. Either {7} {U} or {6} {U} {U}.

How about choosing a non-legend creature? Otherwise he is a UG instant Wrath of Frog.

I guess we can mark this as finished.. I'm sorta happy it was perfectly balanced from the start.. And sorta dissapointed as I always love having discussions about building cards.
