Hi, I'm new to TMD as well as Vintage, having played Legacy for a while. Thought I'd move up the power scale and see what it's like up here...

Anyway, on to my question:

In a transformational SB situation, would DSC be a viable Oath target (win condition)...

as in, DSC already MD, siding in 4xOath of Druids + 1xGaea's Blessing as surprise win condition. Will the DSC hang around long enough to connect twice? (there would be counterspell backup in the form of 4xFoW, 4xDrain, (?)2xMisD)

or should i include Akroma in the SB if i plan to use that course of action.

also, if Akroma > DSC, could someone be so kind as to point out which cards specifically cause this to be true, since at the moment, simply put, both take ~2 *more* turns to win after hitting the board.

The reason Akroma gets used as an Oath target is because Akroma + Spirit of the Night (or Razia) is only two turns to kill instead of the 3 if you use Darksteel Colossus, assuming you get to oath twice.

Actually, I would include Simic Sky Swallower since a lot of decks are packing Wipe Away.  Also, STP could be problematic for the DSC route since it is not a very good drain target, FOW has you -2 cards and -1 life to counter a 1 mana instant, and most likely there will be no other creature to Misdirect STP to.  SSS should avoid most of the commonly used cards that could wreck you.  Especially since you are talking about a transformational sideboard and (presumably) they won't predict needing to answer SSS.

There is also the Goblin Welder issue when you use DSC...

well, that's true.   I usually just transform into Oath when I'm up against creature decks.  This is so I don't have to eat up space for Orchard, amongst other reasons.  Rarely will you encounter a creature deck with Welder.  Of course, this all depends on what your maindeck actually is.

If you are expecting them to bring in tons of graveyard hate, I suppose one could say that Colossus is good at staying out of there.  That seems like a weak reason anyway.  I've found that just siding in 1 Akroma is better.  It doesn't tap, and it has more protections.  Protections > no protections if the speed is the same.
