Legendary Creature – Goblin Lord
2/2
Mountainwalk, haste
When Card Name comes into play, destroy target Dwarf.

ok.

Any reasons for making this card? Why dwarf?

Yes,Tarmogoyf is probably better than Chameleon Colossus, but comparing it to Tarmogoyf is like comparing your girlfriend to Carmen Electra - one's versatile and reliable, the other's just big and cheap.(And you'd run both if you could get away with)

Why, Dwarves and Goblins are enemies, of course!  I was partially inspired by Tivadar of Thorn. Goblin is my favourite creature type, but I also want to build up the Dwarf creature type.

I'd say solders were the enemy, because they destroy goblins, have creatures with protection from goblins, and white even has cards with destroy all goblins.

I would change the creature type from dwarves to soldier or cleric or something.

In the Lord of the Rings and most other fantasy, Goblins and Dwarves are enemies. Humans have little contact with Goblins. But in Magic, Tivadar of Thorn is a Human Lord and Foothill Guide is a Cleric, neither are Soldiers.

I think the card is fine as-is. I guess it would make it playable to make it target a Soldier or a Cleric, but I'm not necessarily looking to make it more playable.

Any other comments?

If you want to build up Dwarf, why not go the other way and make a Dwarf that can affect Goblins somehow, maybe by sacrificing or whatever.

Any Dwarf can already kill Goblin's of the Flarg. Do you really want to overpower this tribe THAT much?

I'm just waiting for a Dwarven Ringleader so I can build Food Chain Dwarves.

How about choosing a non-legend creature? Otherwise he is a UG instant Wrath of Frog.

Just Belch them out.  What are you waiting for?

Incidentally, I'd much rather see more Dwarves than Goblins.  Maybe I'll make a Dwarf or too.

Seething Song for the win? And if they counter or Needle the Charbelcher, you can fall back on your Dwarf aggro plan.  Rolling Eyes

Back on topic: I don't like this card. Tivadar was cool because he was an already existing character, with a clear anti-goblin agenda, with a flavorful ability that's likely to be useful most of the time, and still a decent first-striking, pro-red Ogre even if there are no goblins.

This card has no association with any known character, and is a relatively worthless mountainwalking Goblin Chariot unless he hits a Dwarf, and when in all of Discordia is that going to happen?

On the other hand, let's make some Dwarves. Dwarves are cool.

Quite a bit, actually: Thirty-Two Short Columns About Dwarves

Dwarves (along with monkeys) have an unnatural hatred for non-basic land.
Dwarves really enjoy blowing stuff up.
Dwarves have some anger issues.
The Mohawk is a viable dwarf haircut.
Dwarves are willing to say the word "butt".
Dwarves have some odd hold over barbarians and minions.
Dwarves have ponies.
Dwarves will make armor out of children's toys.
Dwarves apparently like rutabagas.
Dwarven warriors and nomads tend to perform the same functions.
Dwarves perfected the "blaze of glory" (whatever that means).
The dwarves have vigilantes, bomb squads, strike forces, thaumaturgists and sea clans.
Let's just say the dwarven men need not have any fear that anyone's moving in on their women.
They can kick the Goblins of the Flarg's butts (remember, dwarves can say "butt").

So basicly:
Dwarves can have haste.
Dwarves are organised (i.e. they should have abilities that helps each other in some way)
Dwarves should have a number of cards which are humorous.
Dwarves should get abilities that involves killing lands and artifacts....and maybe something like Ftk?

...And dwarfs dosn't like goblins much.

Alright, I'll drop the Goblin Lord idea. Does anyone like this Dwarf idea?

He's an Elvish Piper for artifacts. Do you think I should remove the noncreature artifact restriction?

Any thoughts on the Dwarven Engineer?

Otherwise I'll close this thread.

CLose this thread and start a new one for the Engineer.  We need more Engineers in Magic.
