Namli, goblin hunter - 1RR
Legendary Creature - Dwarf warrior
First strike
If an opponent controls a goblin, Namli gains provoke.
Whenever a goblin comes into play, Namli deals 1 damage to it.
3/2

In most games Dwarfs hate goblins, but in magic this has never really been part of the dwarf-flavor on the cards, so i thought  i'd make a goblin hunter Smile
Against goblins he is a house, against everything else he is decent. Basicly a walking engineered plague: Goblins.

Current wording:
Namli, goblin hunter - 1RR
Legendary Creature - Dwarf Soldier
First strike
If an opponent controls a goblin, Namli gains provoke.
Whenever a goblin comes into play, Namli deals 1 damage to it.
3/2

a very nice card. I like the goblin/provoke ability. Those goblins are not going to like this Smile

Yes,Tarmogoyf is probably better than Chameleon Colossus, but comparing it to Tarmogoyf is like comparing your girlfriend to Carmen Electra - one's versatile and reliable, the other's just big and cheap.(And you'd run both if you could get away with)

Dwarves aren't warriors, they're Soldiers.  Also, I think this is going too much.  I'd get rid of the CIP versus Goblins, since this suddenly becomes 400x better than Aether Flash, and 1RR 3/2 First Strikers.  Provoke is also +1 or +2.  I think you can get away with this (the name is probably too long):

Namli Thorwait, Anti-Goblin Specialist - {1} {R} {R}
Legendary Creature - Dwarf Soldier
Whenever Namli Thorwait, Anti-Goblin Specialist blocks or becomes blocked by a Goblin, it gains first strike until end of turn.
Whenever Namli Thorwait, Anti-Goblin Specialist attacks, if defending player controls a goblin, Namli gains Provoke until end of turn.
3/1

Gotcha on the soldier thing, you're right.

I honestly don't think the card i submitted is too good, if anything, goblins are too good.

Making it 3/1 means that there's like a million goblin effects that just plain kills it. (Mogg fanatic, gempalm incinerator, goblin medics etc. etc.)

Also, its infinetly easier to get rid off then both æther flash and engineered plague - for goblin decks (since burn takes care of him)

Yes but he's a 3 mana 3/2 First Strike in red with no drawbacks and TWO extra abilities, at least one of which adds mana to the manacost.

He actually does have a drawback, he's legendary.

Not sure how he can be changed so everyone is satisfied.

That's a very minimal drawback, and not worth more than maybe a point of toughness on an aggressive creature.

What do you think of my suggestion?  I could see making him a 3/2 on that circumstance, but keeping First Strike conditional.

Something like:

Namli, goblin hunter - 1RR
Legendary Creature - Dwarf Soldier
If an opponent controls a goblin, Namli has First strike
If an opponent controls a goblin, Namli has Provoke.
Whenever a goblin comes into play, Namli deals 1 damage to it.
3/2

That'd be okay with me...i'd still like to keep the ping ability.

It's too bad provoke has no synergy with Pro Red or Pro Goblins.  Mogg Fanatic, Sharpshooter, Seige Gang and Incinerator (and because of those Matron and Ringleader) take this guy down.  The only cards in Legacy goblins that don't own him are lackey, piledriver and warchief.  If those are the only goblins in your opponents opening hand, the game could be over before you can cast him.

How giving him pro gobin, or pro red, and giving him the arena ability?  Should he able to destroy Goblin Goon somehow?

You're giving him 3! abilities, two of which have extreme synergy with each other (dealing with combat) and one of which avoids combat as much as possible (the ping ability).  I also feel it's way too high above the curve.  There are, for contrast, two other red creatures with 3 power that cost 1RR.  One is a 3/2 vanilla, and the other is a 3/4 Mountainwalker with Echo.  There's no way this is anywhere near balanced.

Why not just give him Pro:Gobbos and keep the ping Goblins ability, and reduce him to a 1/2?
