Why was Smemmen banned?

You do realize that Steve (Smemmen) is still banned from TMD and can't respond right?  Maybe one of his teammates will chime in.

Could you expand on the reasons for his banning, or post the link to the thread which caused his banning? I'm very curious to why "the most important vintage writer/player" is banned from "the most important vintage website".

We left it up specifically so that people could see the proximate cause of his ban.

Mods were fine with Steve having a new username, but he had blatantly and wantonly disregarded the TMD rules over and over.  After a cooling off period and creating the new username for a "fresh start", he continued flaming other users, then told us he wasn't going to change and issued an ultimatum (and continued to flame other users), resulting in his banning. 

Like other users, after 3 months of banning, he can petition the mods for re-instatement.

Contributing to Vintage and doing so in a manner appropriate for TMD are two completely different items.  We have rules and they apply to everyone here, even someone who has made enormous contributions to the community like Steve.
