opposite search instant Target opponent searches your library for 3 non land cards. You choose 1 card, and put the rest into your graveyard. shuffle your library afterwards. "Don't look at me"- shy dwarf. you get the idea. questions: mana cost? how many cards is good? should the cards be removed from the game, put in graveyard or shuffled back into the library? also, 3 cards, or 3 different cards? CURRENT WORDING opposite search instant Target opponent searches your library for 5 non land cards. You choose 2 cards, and put the rest into your graveyard. shuffle your library afterwards. "Don't look at me"- shy dwarf.

Yes,Tarmogoyf is probably better than Chameleon Colossus, but comparing it to Tarmogoyf is like comparing your girlfriend to Carmen Electra - one's versatile and reliable, the other's just big and cheap.(And you'd run both if you could get away with)

3 Different cards would be very interesting....i really like this card.
I think its safe, since you are going to get to chose between the 3 worst cards.
Maybe make a "bigger" version at 4 mana which makes him search for 5 and you keep 2 ?...kinda like a reverted fact or fiction.

If you say 3 Different cards then they can fail to find cards. The only way to make it un-failable is to have it just be cards.

But that makes it possible to give you three basic-lands. Make it "Reveal the cards in your library. An opponent chooses from among them three cards [with different names].Put one of those cards in your hand and [do something with the rest]. Shuffle your library afterwards."

If there's any sort of restriction, players can fail to find, and that includes something like non-land.

But that only applies to hidden zones. You can't fail to remove all copies of the named card from your opponent's graveyard when you cast Cranial Extraction, for example. I believe that revealing the library would solve the problem.

It would, but it's a lot of busywork.

Is it though? Revealing your library for a player to look through is almost the same as having that player search it him/herself, in terms of how much work you're actually doing.

Instead of 2/5, why not go back to 1/3 but make them cards with different names? Also, I think you have to reveal the library. I'd suggest: <Name> - Instant Reveal the cards in your library. An opponent chooses from among them three nonland cards with different names. You put one of the chosen cards into your hand, and put the rest in your graveyard. Then shuffle your library.

the problem with 3 cards, is that he will show you 3 "opposite search" cards, which is pretty bad. 2 cards is card advantage, since it will be the 5 "worst" cards, you can draw 2.

Instead of 2/5, why not go back to 1/3 but make them cards with different names? I feel that that version makes it more interesting, and a better mindgame.
