These last times I have worked on a control deck with Intuition + AK for draw engine and tendrils + EtW for kill. I have an optimal skeleton however 7 cards lack to complete the deck and orientate it.

53 MD cards

1 Black lotus
5 Moxes
1 Sol ring
1 Mana crypt
1 Mana vault
1 Lotus petal
1 Tolarian academy
1 Library of Alexandria
3 Polluted delta
2 flooded strand
3 Underground sea
3 Volcanic Island
3 Island

4 Force of will
4 Mana drain

4 Brainstorm
1 Ancestral Recall
2 Intuition
4 Accumulated knowledge

1 Demonic tutor
1 Vampiric tutor
1 Mystical tutor

1 Yawgmoth's will
1 Time walk
1 Tendrils of agony
1 Tendrils of agony/Empty the warrens
1 Rebuild

Nothing special
- An explosive mana base, maybe too much for the present mana curve which can change with the 7 cards we have to add.
- Permissions, 4 FoW 4 MD
- An efficient draw engine: Intuition and AK
- Several tutors: D-V-M Tutors, i think i'll include 2 or 3 merchant scrolls
- Toolbox: Rebuild

Here is a non-exhaustive list of the cards which i think we can add to our list

Merchant scroll
Misdirection
Duress
Gush
Frantic search
Fact or fiction
Dark ritual
Time twister
Mind's desire
Tormod's crypt
Cunning wish
Thirst for knowledge
Gift
Rebuild
Chain of vapor
Repeal

I would want your advice about these 7 cards.

I have been tinkering with "Storm-Drain" since the European T1T lists.  Personally, I don't like TfK, Gush plan that Codi popularized.  I think its redundant in a deck that already has so much draw.

I like having access to a little more disruption.  I would consider adding following:

+1 Misdirection
+1 Duress
+1 Chain of Vapor
+2 Merchant Scroll
+1 Fact or Fiction
+1 Gifts (Recoup?)

Also, you can safely cut a Volcanic and add Dark Ritual.  It is really amazing when going off, especially when you need the double black for Tendrils.

Since you are already running red, Recoup is another option that can be used with both Intuiotn and Gifts.

I have been wanting to test Bargain as well, but haven't had the time.  You should try it out and report the results.

The side board is meta dependant but I have used these in the past:

Leyline/Crypt
rebuild/H. Recall
Massacre
Empty
Deep
Duress
Dark Confidant

Hope this was helpful.

I think this is largely a function of how well you know your metagame and how good you are with the deck.  Cody used three win conditions because he's well known (and feared) in the NC meta.  I've found that the better you get with the deck, the more you can just use ToA for the win.  Obviously if you have a meta full of fish and Stax, Warrens and Tinker become better.

I think this is much more match-dependent.  In general the deck wants mostly gas with a minimum of answers to deal with stuff like meddling mage, chalice, etc.  That being said, half of the cards you list afterwards (Scrolls, FoF, Gifts), I would consider gas.

Recoup is another option

This is a route I've had a lot of success with.  Cody doesn't like it because it makes the deck even more dependent on the graveyard.  In the past this wasn't much of an issue since The first Gifts or Intuition would either sucker out the tormod's crypt or allow you to gain card advantage to win through another route.  If leyline of the void becomes popular, the non-grave draw (thirst, gush, fof, scry, dconf) become more appealing.

I have been wanting to test Bargain

Bargain is interesting in this list.  It's won me a lot of games just due to surprise value.  As the format speeds up it tends to get clunkier, and although I love playing with it, I suspect it suffers from 'the danger of cool things'.  I want to reiterate that the comment above is correct- definitely run at least 1 dark ritual, even if you don't pack bargain.

Regardless of the direction, this deck (like everything else) is going to have to think about a plan for dredge.dec.  4x Leyline in the board may be enough...it may not.

Somebody tell Chapin how counterbalance works?

"Of all the major Vintage archetypes that exist and have existed for a significant period of time, Oath of Druids is basically the only won that has never won Vintage Championships and never will (the other being Dredge, which will never win either)." - Some guy who does not know vintage....
