My favorite deck.
I came across an old deck list this afternoon while I was cleaning out my closet. It was for one of the incarnations of my Keeper deck, that I loved and played religiously in Vintage for a really long period of time.

Of all the decks that I have played in any format, I took particular joy in playing Keeper. I played five color control Keeper for years and years in Vintage… Up until I picked up Slaver three or so years ago. Of all the lists I played, this one is particularly close to my heart, because I won a 60 man Vintage tournament for a Mox Emerald with it right when Onslaught came out. It was one of the first tournaments I won playing real, fully powered Vintage. I also remember that it was days after I bought Mox Emerald and completed my set of power nine.
That tournament was interested because at the end of the Swiss, I was in first place playing keeper and the rest of the top eight was all 4 Gush GAT. I ended up beating GAT the next three rounds in a row with my Keeper deck and taking home the Mox. Interestingly enough, Mark Biller was at that same event, and though we didn’t meet that day I beat one of his friends in the Swiss.

I have been sitting on this decklist for some time, but up until today it has all just been theory and playtesting. But because i was able to attend a good sized (30 man) high powered tourney today, and it so happened that i WON (actually we split the prize) that tourney, i can now put my official stamp of approval on the deck and share it with all of you.

This deck is extremely good. Is it better than mono-u gay fish?? Hard to say, but i'm leaning toward a yes. The combined synergy of the cards in this deck is just mindblowing, incorporating all of the original "combos" but adding in new tricks that allow for increased control of the game.
Grim lavamancer is the best fish card EVAR. He opens up a completely new dimension for this deck and solves so many problems that the original mono-u build simply could not handle.
Right now, I can't even go into all the faggoty goodness that this deck packs. Suffice to say though, this deck is a total sex pot and if you can't see that just by looking at it, you need to seriously re-evaluate your sexual orientation. [/url] |

A shame that i don't keep decklists, I played 3 Color control for the longest time Blue, black and white, the draw-engine changed from time to time, but i always played a number of duress and swords to plowshares...And the once stable bombs such as Balance and Mind twist..along with tutors to find said bombs, if was really just keeper without Red.
Oh where has all the REAL control mirrors gone? *sigh*

Good times... it was teched out with burn to beat my friends sui-black deck with negators (we were the only people playing type one, so we just metagamed against each other with janky crap. Then one day I got dual lands and it all went downhill to keeper from there :lol: )

At the tournament I talked about where I won (in my initial post), I played against a deck that was almost the exact same list as this. Except that he had Colossus of Sardia. He got me game one by playing Land Mox Survival. Untap Survival away Anger, get Colossus, Survival away Colossus get Welder and weld in Colossus. Attack for nine. I had never seen a Goblin Welder before that game, nor would Goblin Welder ever be far from my Vintage thoughts after that. I immediately traded for a playset of Welders and started playing TNT for a bit after that week. Thinking to myself "Why is Goblin Welder the most insane creature ever?" Great deck! I've been theorizing about the addition of Future Sight to Trinity for a while, but it looks like Your Mother has a better grasp on things, especially regarding the control matchup. Being a fan of Trinity, I'd really like to mess around with your mother. Unfortunately, I'm one Wish short of getting my hands on Your Mother completely. I think I'll try playing Twister with Your Mother, actually. Your Mother seems like the type that would benefit from a little Twister here and there.
How have you liked playing with Your Mother's Vault? Do you feel that with Future Sight, Your Mother's Vault is even superior to getting Your Mother a tutor?
Also, with all the Wishing that you do with Your Mother, do you feel that Your Mother might not go off as quickly? 1 Sol Ring |
