When: Saturday, May 5, 2007 Registration starts at noon Tournament starts at 1 pm
Where: The Gamers Lounge 127 E. Market St. Sandusky, OH 44870 (419) 621-0282
First Place gets a playset of Forces of Will!
Cost: $10 Sanctioned
Though I've been trying my darndest to get another Vintage tournament in Sandusky, the store hasn't yet found a Mox or other suitable prize. So they're having a Legacy tournament instead, and just in time for the Columbus GP. The Gamers Lounge is two hours from southern Michigan, Columbus, and eastern Ohio. And a little over an hour from Toledo and Cleveland. There should be a pretty good turnout for this, so tell your friends and bring your decks!
Edit: If anyone has any power, Drains, whatever, that they think might be a good prize for a Vintage tournament let me know, and I'll have Dave from the Gamers Lounge get in contact with you. Thanks!
Edit: Changed date.

+1 points for relevancy.. Me going to this is 100% determined by whether or not Cedar Point is open during this. 2 hours is a long way to drive for a set of FoW. It would be worth it to go if I can ride some roller coasters after the event.

Hey guys,
The next Meandeck Open has just been announced for the same day, so it might be beneficial for you to try and reschedule. I'm sure your tourney will be well-done, but you may not want to bump heads with a tournament like this. (Especially one that's IN Columbus.)
Anyway, just thought I'd bring it up, as I would love to go to both.
Peace, Dave

Just a note to everyone that this has been moved to Saturday to not conflict directly with the Meandeck tournament. My theory is, come to both! I will be...
If anyone wants a ride up from Columbus, I'll have three spots open in my car.

This tournament is coming up quickly. It should be a good time--the store is great and there's Diana's restaurant afterward for food if one is so inclined. Plus, $10 entry ain't half bad.
I'll be heading to this from Columbus. If anyone wants a ride up and back, PM and let me know by Friday by 4 p.m.

@Daniel and Khorshed, if you guys could leave me a PM or something about this weekend, that would be great. I just need to know what's going on so I can make my plans. Right now I'm planning on leaving my apartment around 10 am on Saturday.
It sounds like we'll have a pretty solid turnout for this! It would be a great (relatively inexpensive) introduction to the Legacy format for anyone planning on going to the GP otherwise blind. Plus, it's an early chance to test Flash combo, both with and against. (Good Lord, that deck is nuts!)
I'll see if I can get deeper prize support for a higher turnout.
Gimme a shout if you're coming out!

Oh, I beat Flash 29/30 games with Fish today. They have no outs to Duress/Counters/Meddling Mage/Stifle in conjunction with one another. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

I took this one home from a field of Nine(I think) with Hulk Smash. Second place should have been JR with Iggy Pop, but Nat scooped to a paired down kid who got the first round bye and snuck in with Hulk Flash.
In total there were three Hulk Flash decks (Me, 2nd place kid Nick, and Jerry Yang), one IggyPop (JR Goldstein-berg-man), one Goblin Sligh (Mark Trogdon), one UBg Tog (Twaun), one UBW Fish(Nat), one TROGDORBURNINATE (friend of mine Andrew Loosli), and RGb Survival (Nam Tran).
I played Nam in the first round, which lasted three turns total. First game on the play, Island go, Mystical EOT, Flash for the win. Game two he's on the play, has turn 1 birds, while I have turn one win. Then it was Nick who drew poorly and lost fast. Then I played JR and won solely on the speed and power of the deck. EOT 1 Mystical for Flash, FoW Chant on the Upkeep, play land, ESG, win. Ridic. He won game two after mulling to three and me forgetting to Flash on my upkeep to avoid drawing my Karmic Guide. Then I played Twaun, crushed him in the first game on the second turn after Duress, Daze a Counterspell on Duress, and taking force, tapping the other land and a lotus petal to Flash in the win. I proceeded to draw bunk the next two games, mulling to four in game three keeping a hand of ESG, ESG, Flooded Strand, Lotus Petal, only to die on turn 5 to a 23/24 Trampling Psychatog. It was still a blast and I look forward to return there for the next eternal tournament they have.
Props to: The store for having free Comic give away day and an overall good tournament. One of the nicer stores I've been to also. Perkins in the mornin'. Diana's in the evenin'. Hulk Flash for being the dominant deck.
Slops: My stomach for casting death, targeting the Perkins bathroom, at 11 am. Oxidizes in the SB for not doing anything. Hulk for being fundamentally degenerate.

Wikipedia is becoming more and more like the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.... I'm pretty sure playing what amounts to a 5 mana cantripping Gray Ogre is fucking terrible.

I have the lists for this tournament if anyone wants to see them. The standings at the end I don't have, unfortunately, and everyone was pretty close at the end anyway with only nine players. 1. Eric Caffrey - Hulk Flash with black 2. Nick Sherwood - Hulk Flash sans black, scooped in JR Goldberg - IGGy Pop 4. Anthony Michaels - Legacy Tog Mark Trogdon - Reckless Bombs (Goblins with Grenades) Nam Tran - Survival 7. Nat Moes - UBW Vial Fish Jerry Yang - Hulk Flash with sideboard black 9. Andrew Loosli - Mono Red Burn You can see pictures of the players and the venue here: http://magictothenthdegree.blogspot.com/2007/05/is-this-heaven.html
