Hey everyone.  I've left the San Francisco Bay Area for the time being and forseeable future, and I've moved into Cambridge in the Boston area.  I'm wondering who all here is in the area, where you guys draft and test/play T1, and what regular tournaments are within reasonable distance.  Please note that I do not have a car but am willing to ride the T or busses to get my Magic fix for the week.  Let me know if you have any idea where the Magical cards are played.

Edit: Now looking for ride to Stratford!  Any shot that anybody has a seat open in a car?  I'll pay for my share of the gas, hotel, beer, etc etc (at a 60 me/40 you split), I'm even willing to pay you for your time and effort to come pick me up.  I live in Cambridge but I can take a subway to somewhere central (off the 93, perhaps) where I can get picked up.

All the type 1 in the area is basically played at ELD's tournaments and Myriad in new hampshire. There is actually an ELD tournament on saturday in bridgewater mass and a myriad this sunday.

You just moved to probably the biggest Vintage hot spot: New England.

Myriad Games in NH
ELD
I think Feinstein is even holding events now
WATERBURY
Hadley started again
Others in between

*sniff* I miss having more options.

Both Myriad and ELD's are less than 45 minutes from you, so you probably shouldn't have a difficult attending those. Hadley and Waterbury (Stratford) are a little further, but still available if you willing to be on the road for a little bit. (Hadley is 1.5 hours, Stratfordbury is about 2-2.5)

Well Myriad Games is located in Salem, New Hampshire, found right over the Massachusetts border. You shouldn't have a hard time getting there, I assume, and finding Magic players in the area wouldn't be difficult either. ELD's Mox tournaments are in Bridgewater, Massachusetts, which is also nearby. Mapquest can easily solve your problems as to finding directions for said events.

Check the Tournament Announcement Forum from time to time, there is almost always a Vintage tournament available  each week. Two are being held this upcoming weekend- ELD on Saturady, and Myriad on the following Sunday.

Thanks for all your input.  However, please keep in mind that I'm absolutely new to the area and have no clue where any of these places are.  Where in the world is Myriad, Bridgewater, and even though I've heard of Waterbury, where is that?  Oh, and is it possible to jump on a train/bus and get to those?  Or would I need to find a ride with someone?  Anyone else live in Boston I could meet and play with?

Lotushead: Yeah, I think we played a grand total of once, and I punted the match because I discarded to a Bazaar incorrectly.  Stax mirror match...!
Myriad is in Salem, NH. In the grand scheme of things, it's almost directly north from you. From where you are, you can hop on 93 in about 4 or 5 minutes, and travel north for about 30 minutes. Exit 2 in NH. Left off the exit, and straight for 1/2 mile or so. Bam! Myriad games is right there.

As for taking a train / bus, I'm not sure of any that pass nearby. Your best bet would be to find someone from the area that could meet you at either the haverhill or lawrence stations, and get a ride from there. Or find someone who'll be passing by (you're close to 93 and 90, so there's bound to be someone passing by your area).

As for bridgewater, that's to the south of you, about the same distance as myriad is to the north (35 minutes or so) and on pretty much the same highway (93). I'm not sure of any trains into Bridgewater (ELD would definately know), but I know that there are plenty of people that carpool down from NH/Northern MA.

Hadley is about an hour and 15 minutes to 1 1/2 hours to your west. I'm pretty sure that there's public transportation into hadley, but someone from that area would know better.

The Bridgewater stop on the Old Colony line is walking distance from the tournament site.  It looks like the train outbound train stops in Bridgewater at 9:10 am.  I will be in opening the doors before 10 am to set up, so you will have a little time to kill.

Bridgewater is accessible from 24 and 495, as well as the Train.  It is one of the reasons why I have held more events with Scholar's than any other venue.  I hope you can make it down.

With Waterbury coming up, is anyone passing through Boston and willing to give me a ride?  I'd split gas, hotel room, and all other incidental costs.  I'd also be willing to put up collateral (Driver's Licence) for borrowed cards, dice, sleeves, play mat, etc.  Anyway, let me know if you're coming through Boston; I'd love to ride down, play at Waterbury, and get to know all of you cool East Coast Vintage kids.

Last try for a ride, or else I'm going on a camping trip.  Now offering to pay you for your time and uneven split of costs.

I live in Cambridge too, although I haven't played Type 1 in several years. I still have all of my cards.

I know this won't happen in a tournament, but if my opponent has Chaos Orb in his hand while I'm controlling his turn from a Mindslaver, who flips the card if I force him to play it and activate it?
