This was a truely fun tourney.
For those who want a laugh:
I told Dan the day before at ELD's that if I "did well" I would switch decks with him. Top 4 is apparently "well". It was decided: at Hadley I would play TMWA and Dan Yarrington would play Staxless Stax
On the way up to Hadley, fellow TPSers Dan Gacioch, Scott Hughes, Jeff Kowalczyk, and Rich Meyst and I were all squeezed tight into a car. It was thrown out that whoever did worse had to "ride (((explative deleted)))"(sit in the middle of the back seat) on the way home. I immediately declared,
"Umm...I don't think that is fair."
"Why not, you always do well?" was the response.
"I just don't think that it is fair, that's all."
It didn't take long to see right through me. The cat was out of the bag, at least, with my teammates.
I get there and make a few changes to TMWA. Dan keeps Staxless exactly as is.
Round 1 pairing vs Dan Yarrington
"Son of a (((explative deleted)))!!!"
We decide to go play in the far area of the food court so no one will see us. At one point during game three, Kowal comes over and asks what is going on. I tell him the match is over and we are playing with each other's decks for fun. When he asks who won the match I quickly say, "Obviously me. I smashed his (((explative deleted))) face."
Kowal spend the whole day believeing our story.
I beat fellow TPSer Jeff K in round 4 to go 3-1. I now assume I can draw in. It turns out that I have the worst tiebreakers and have a tough decision about round 5. I'm not feeling very confident with the deck having made a few mistakes throughout the day and decide to take my chances with a draw.
I finish 9th

It would have been great fun to top 8 with TMWA but I guess it just wasn't meant to be.
Staxless Stax was not happy with me that night. I had to sleep on the couch.
I bought it flowers yesterday, and it agreed to let its mother in law come over for dinner. I'm almost out of the doghouse.
Count on me playing Staxless Stax at the next event.
