Hey there

I tried a little I can't loose combo. I know it's a little bit old fashion but nice in our meta. (espacially against Ichorid). The Idea of my deck is to cast an Angel an protect him a little bit. So now to my deck:

Manasources: (23)          - This deck needs a lot of Mana
- 4x Undergroundsea
- 3x Island
- 2x Swamp
- 3x Flooded Strand
- 3x Polluted Delta
- 1x LoA
- 1x Black Lotus
- 2x Mox UB
- 1x Mana Crypt
- 1x Sol Ring
- 1x Dark Ritual
- 1x Lotus Petal

Disturb: (14)
- 4x FoW
- 4x Mana Drain
- 3x Duress
- 2x Echoing Truth
- 1x Extripate

Draw/Search (12)
- 4x Brainstorm
- 3x Thirst for Knowledge
- 1x A. Recall
- 3x Dem./Vamp./Myst. Tutor
- 1x Death wish
- 3x Merchant Srcoll

Random (2)
- 1x Y. Will
- 1x Time Walk

Creature & Protection (6)
- 3x Platinum Angel
- 2x Diplomatic Imunity
- 1x Tinker

Sideboard (15)
- 4x Leyline of the Void              - Should be clear
- 3x Energy Flux                        - Should be clear as well
- 2x Extripate                           - I like this card I wish I could run more than one main
- 1x Darkblast                           - Against welder and other nasty 1/1 stuff
- 1x Pithing Needle                   - Also nice to have in the wish toolbox
- 1x Engeniered Explosives         - Same here
- 3x Mystic Remora                   - Nice against TPS/Gush etc. 1. Option they wait and u win. 2. Option u draw into a solution

So that's meanly the deck. I think it will be better than in the past. Because nobody run Diabolic Edict nowadays. It's a clear Control - I can't loose Combodeck.

My Idea is normaly not to tinker an Angel first turn. More to play the Controll role and caste it after an Manadrain. Of course I would always tinker it against an Ichorid. My real Problem is to protect my angel 5 turns. Diplomatic Imunity is nice but sometimes to slow. Because I can't cast it normaly in the same turn.

PS: One Question, I think I can't cast a FoW by removing a blue card with 0 Lives, do I?

You are correct.  Because Force of Will says you must PAY one life it means you must actually have a life to pay.

This means you cannot pay the life cost of Force of Will if you are at ( life <= 0)

On a side note I always thought the rules out to be that you must have more than 1 life because paying life to kill yourself is silly.

It never seemed right when Mindslaver was used to Force a guy to kill himself with Necro or Bargain.

The problem with these "combo" decks is that they are just soooo less efficient than something like Flash or even Oath.

You have to first find a way to get one of your 3 angels on the board (should be 4 since it's your only win condition).  That costs you a whopping 7 mana, or more if you have to tutor for it.

And while Diplomatic Immunity is a sweet card you only have 2 of them in there???

As for "I can't lose to a combodeck".....you barely even have as much control as most GAT or Fish decks run!  Only 3 duress, no misdirection...

And what's with 1 dark ritual and 1 extirpate?  Those arent the type of cards that work as 1-offs.

I would make ALOT of changes....More angels, diplomatic, Mishra's Workshop, Pact of Negation, etc......

final fortune and isochron scepter seem like they might not be terrible in such a dedicated angel deck if you can find a way to get them in.

Diplomatic immunity really isn't good enough. For any MTG deck. Ever.

What is the 2 swamps for? 1 should be sufficient for all intents and purposes in a mana drain based deck.

Why death wish? Dosn't really seem optimal.

Here's a deck list i've been toying around with, although i haven't really tested in a while:

Mana: (24)
2 Underground sea
2 Volcanic island
2 Tundra
5 Fetch
1 Island
2 Wasteland
1 Strip mine
1 LoA
1 Tolarian academy
7 Solomoxen

Disruption: (15)
4 Force of will
4 Mana drain
4 Mana leak
3 Disrupt

Draw/Search: (11)
4 Brainstorm
2 Skeletal scrying
1 Ancestral recall
1 Fact or fiction
1 Mystical tutor
1 Vampiric tutor
1 Demonic tutor

Broken: (4)
1 Yawgmoth's will
1 Time walk
1 Tinker
1 Balance

Utility: (6)
2 Gorilla shaman
2 Cunning wish
1 Platinum angel/Darksteel collosus/Sundering titan (I used Platinum angel)
1 Crucible of worlds

Sideboard: (15)
3 Red Blasts
2 Swords to plowshares
1 Echoing truth
1 Skeletal scrying
2 Rack and ruin
2 Massacre/Pyroclasm
4 Chalice of the void

The deck plays out like draw, go for the first turns, and then it locks the opponent out with mana denial or just more counterspell...Or a combination.

I think it would do better then your deck, although it's primary focus isn't on the angel.

If the entire point of the deck is to tinker up a big robot why not include personal tutor too?

It's not the worst keeper style deck ever, just nothing revolutionary.

p.s.

You absolutely need leylines in the board or you'll get rolled by flash. I might even consider adding leyline of singularity too since it's pretty good right now with all the empty the warrens tokens floating around.

That's not really the point, you rarely want to be aggressive. It plays out like Draw,go or mono blue eventually denying the opponent mana and having a counter-wall.

Tinker/Platz is just the best way to win right now for this deck.

The SB should be changed according to which decks you expect to face obviously, so don't use the one i posted Wink It's mostly geared against GAT with rebs and plows.
