I like it!
It reminds me of Wario from Super Mario Kart 64. When you select him he says: "I'm a gonna win!"
In spite of Wario's confidence--I always play Toad. Although he doesn't say "I'm a gonna win!" and only says "OKAY!" He gets the job done.

Oh man, I should bring my N64 with me. If only there was a TV to hook it up to at RIW.
Me and my ex girlfriend always used to play Mario Kart. She would would always be Toad, "cause he was so cute.", and pown the crap out of me. To this day I still have nightmares that I'm being hunted down by a Red Turtle Shell.

I was actually wrong:
Toad says: "Yeah!" when you select him.
I battled Mario Kart 64 just yesterday. You see, though cute, Toad is actually the nutz. He accelerates the fastest of any of the characters. However, He has the awful drawback of 'spinning' out anytime he comes into contact with Bowser or Donkey Kong--which is quite annoying.

Please note that the turtle was so good in the SNES version, he was banned for using steroids in the N64 version. As a loyal turtle fan, I have stopped playing Mario Kart altogether.

Obviously, the 'Koopa Troopa' was the 'coolest' (based upon the obscurity of the character) and also the functionally best 'handles the best at high speed.'
Also, it is worth noting that he had the exact same stats as Toad.
I knew that a super-random conversation about Mario Kart might lure Pac into this forum.
I went to the bar with Mark Biller last night, and we got in around 5 am. He was amazed, and sort of terrified, that I could beat all 4 races (mushroom cup, flower cup, star cup, and special cup) in Mario Kart 64--getting the gold medal--in four tries and without having to replay any of the individual races.

Note that the Koopa Trooper made a triumphant return in Mario Kart: Double Dash, joined by his winged, red-shelled friend the Koopa Paratrooper.

I've played Mario Kart 64 a lot... I mean A LOT. It's how I spent the majority of my summers in high school. Toad and the Princess are equally the best characters for any of the races. They have the best acceleration, and (I think) the highest top speed. Any other character is suboptimal. Battles are a different story.

Agreed! But, 5 and a half hours of driving both ways sucks balls!! So maybe this time we'll have to run a hotel the night before or after! Any suggestions on a decent place to crash in the area?? Didn't remeber seeing much last time.

Also, Pam is going to cater food for this event. $5 for all you can eat Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, and mostaccioli. It is pretty much going to be an event. If you haven't been to one of the large scale RIW events you should check it out--ask anyone who has been to one its pretty much a tradition.
RIW is also going to bring in televisions so that everyone will be able to watch the Super Bowl during the event. So, no worries you won't have to miss the game if you attend the event!
Also, I will have my peasant highlander deck with me if anybody is interested in battling. I also have it from a reliable source that Mark Biller might stop by to play some games of peasant high lander in the evening as well.
In case you are not in the know:
Peasant Highlander--
150 cards every card is restricted except for basic land. No rares 20 Uncommons 130+Commons Legacy banned list.
If a card has multiple different rarities you may choose to use it as whichever rarity you like.
For instance:
Merchant Scroll-- Uncommon in 8th, Common in Homelands. You may use it as a common--and not waste an uncommon slot.
Or,
Nicol Bolis-- Rare in Legends, Timeshifted in Timespiral, U1 in Chronicles. You may use it as an Uncommon since it is so in Chronicles. (Timeshifted cards are timeshifted--so if there is a rare timeshifted card that doesn't appear as a common or uncommon somewhere else it would be considered banned...ie, no Call of the Herd). However Psionic Blast is an Uncommon in A, B, U, so it is legal as an uncommon. et cetera. Any questions feel free to PM me.
Also, to verify rarity-- we use SCRYE... Since it still has all of the old U1, U2, (correct) rarities from older sets, arabian nights, antiquities, homelands, fallen empires, chronicles, et cetera.
Cheers!

Oh man this tourney was SICK! I'm pretty sure fun was had by all!
The good: - Meeting the crew from K-zoo! - Having everyone stay at my APT, it was a blast. - Balance....best card ever! - Lochinvar81 for getting there a.k.a. he got a sapphire. - 4x different white bordered City of Brass's. Man those are some attention getters! - multiple sided coins - Every match I played in was a blast. - 0% team serious, 100% team fun! - the local UMW 710 for representing!
The Bad: - Hypnotic and Hennessey. Rappers rap about it, but it is still horrible. - Josh Chapple getting 9th on breakers. - Snoop Trogg couldn't make it. - I forgot Charlie's name and he dumptrucked me in the top 8 for it. Vengeance shall be mine!!!!!!! - Black Lotus.....card should be banned.

This tournament was a blast! Thanks to RIW for hosting it an being awesome as well as all of the people that showed up that I haven't seen for a while. Congrats to my friend Nat for winning his first piece of power, Twaun for putting up results with an awesome deck, Mastriano for winning it all, and Charley, for coming out of retirement and making it to the finals!
I can't wait for the next one! Hopefully I can make it!

Awesome tournament. I try my hardest to make it to all RIW tournaments (despite a 5 hour drive each way) for several reasons:
- great atmosphere for playing - decent amount of space. friendly judging. I've played Magic in places that make Alcateraz look like the Ritz Carleton - so playing at a nice store is a welcome change.
- Pam, the store owner, actually cares about the players and often goes the extra mile to make the players happy. One time she hired in a security guy to watch for people stealing other people's cards. Once she gave out free lighters. This time they had catered food. Those are only a few examples.
- good gaming store if you need to buy stuff
- prize support is excellent. the pieces of power I've won at RIW are always a little nicer than the standard prize pieces.
- lots of cool people to hang out with.

@Twaun007: You're 0-2 against me now - first belcher, now CS. Shall I bring fish next time? To tell the truth, I was pretty worried going into the T8 against you - after talking smack before the tournament I was sure I was going to have to eat my words! Alas, my deck smiled upon me and gave me good cards!
@Nat: always a pleasure
@Mr. Type 4: congrats on the win

@Twaun007: You're 0-2 against me now - first belcher, now CS. Shall I bring fish next time? I know for a fact that Twaun's kung-fu is weak against Fish style. This tournament, as all RIW tournaments, was awesome and would have been even if I hadn't taken home a Sapphire. On four hours of sleep. With Belcher. Will we get to see some decklists or anything? Props to everyone everyone at the store, players and non-players alike. Slops to Hypnotiq, a.k.a. doggy bath water, and Twaun for buying it.

Twaun007 Masterlock, and the Wu-Tang sword style. If what you say is true, the Twaun007 and the Wu-Tang could be dangerous. Do you think your Wu-Tang sword can defeat me? En garde, I'll let you try my Wu-Tang style.

I personally had a careers low 1-2 drop at this event with my Control Slaver deck--However, I can honestly say that I don't think I've ever had more fun at a magic tournament ever.
I would like to thank Pam for doing an outstanding job. and congrats to Paul for taking this sucka down.
