Meaning that it has to have the attributes of an article, as opposed to something resembling a forum post. Things like: being way too short to be considered an article, unreadable, etc. You know, criteria within reason.

Curiously, what is the purpose of that website when most of that same information (Vintage, Legacy, Classic, discussions, articles, events) is on The Mana Drain?  This is already a great Eternal format forum and I'm not sure why you (as an Administrator and Founder of this site) wouldn't just want the information consolidated on this site.   Don't get me wrong, it looks like a good site, it just seemed odd of you to be creating it.

From K-Run's same question on Magic Eternal:

TMD serves a function for Vintage that people enjoy and that I won't take away from, namely format, deck discussion, and deck help. MTGTheSource does much of the same for Legacy. I don't plan on taking away from that at all.

What is a disturbing trend since I first retired is that there's less of a platform for people to get Eternal Articles out there. SCG has one and a half writers for Vintage (Smmenen and a part-time Vintage devotee Josh Silvestri). Legacy has a once/week rotation of Legacy writers who all share one slot.

Eternal players have way more to say, but no way (outside of forums) to share it. I opened the site to really expand on Eternal content with more articles. Also, we're going to be doing more that the forum sites aren't doing, as well as StarCityGames. Namely, a podcast series. There are other things in the works well, such as Vintage videos (think a Vintage Magic Show) and other contests.

Also note that there is a group of Vintage Tournament Organizers who will use MagicEternal to host a set of standards, tournament tracking, and eventually a rating system. Time will tell if Legacy will want to buy into that, so we'll start with just Vintage first.

Enjoy!

You use the verb "write" an article, but would this contest be open to say, filming an article? I don't know that I would film something, but it'd open up the contest a little bit.

I'd actually be willing to write a little something on proxies, what history I know about them*, how they generate excitement for the budget players and even the card pimps (at least in my meta), and where they stand now, ending with say, these vid's:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHhhQOnkBBM
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jx-nJwPLzjo
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4QUNHx7ChI

Would that meet the criteria possibly?

*By the history I know, I don't mean that I'm a historian. I just know  how proxies got started/used in my meta, plus SCG's first 5-proxy series.

As I plan a podcast and video portion, those can be considered as well.

Members at MagicEternal.com

It won't be a normal "poll" since those can be rigged. Each voter will have to write in the article and I can make sure no duplicate IP's show up.

Would a tournament report count? Of course it would have analysis of playing and thoughts on the deck and sideboard? And maybe plays I could have made better? This tournament hasn't happened and it's an assumption that I will do well, but it will most likely happen.

Yeah, if it was fleshed out enough it'd be fine.

Congratulations to Eric Becker for "Numerous Above Average Plays", which is far and away the winner. I'll do another one of these soon.

question on the contest rules:  For a while now I've been thinking of getting back into the article game, but Starcity has been.... less than accommodating in that regard. If I do write anything, my primary concern is circulation.  Would there be any problem with me posting something both on magiceternal and for instance, magic.tcgplayer.com?

I'd leave it up to the individual author if they want to showcase the article anywhere else after getting put up on MagicEternal as they own it, not me. But someone writing for another site, can't submit the same article for the MagicEternal contest. I'm not sure which direction you were thinking.

FYI, David Caplan did just that. I put it up and about a week later, TCGPlayer put it up. That's fine.
