So I collect lots of music and put it on external hard drives.  Recently when trying to move some files/folders around I got a "<path> is not accessible.  Access denied." message.  My best guess is that I moved files/folders while logged in (without admin rights) at a previous job's computer.  Is there any way to reset the permissions on my drive so that I can move, copy, delete these?

Thanks for taking a look.

If you're logged in as an administrator you could take ownership of those files.
View a properties of a folder/drive -> security* -> Advanced -> Owner -> Check 'Replace owners on subcontainers and Objects' -> Ok.

* If there is no security tab you'll have to disable simple file sharing (in Windows Explorer, Tools -> FolderOptions -> View -> Remove checkmark on 'Use simple file sharing').

Hope it helps.
