Viashino Hereticical question

  If I use the activated abillity of Viashino Heretic targetting a Colossus (any indestructable), does the damage resolve even though the destroy effect wouldn't?

Oracle text: 1R, T Destroy target artifact. Viashino Heretic deals damage to that artifact's controller equal to the artifact's converted mana cost.

Yes. You have a legal target when it resolves, so you resolve as much as possible. You destroy the Colossus, and it deals the damage to the Colossus's controller.

The fact that the Colossus stays in play makes no difference.

There's only one ability; just the "Destroy it, deal damage" ability.  It resolves in spite of COlossus being indestructible.  Saying "the destroy effect doesn't resolve" is not quite true...

back in like 2005 when dsteel was win condition of choice, this was actually a strategy for stax. get heretic up and active before they tinker, so you can deal 22 before they do.
