Vintage returns to Charleston, SC - 5/31

I've decided to start running tournaments in the South since there seems to be a lot of players interested in Vintage, but very few tournaments to attend around here. If you want to see more of these show your support by attending!

I have plans to make run 3 tournaments focused mostly on developing the Vintage scene here by giving out tons of staples as prizes and door prizes, then start hosting Mox tournaments as the scene develops. The first Mox tournament will be FREE! Not free as in I'm setting aside money each tournament, taking away from prizes so I can give out a Mox, free as in free. I've won my fair share of power and I don't mind giving up a piece if it will help the South's scene grow. The free Mox Tournament will likely be in August, more details to follow.

Prizes will be deep and I'll be giving out staples the first 20 players to register as door prizes for the first 3 tournaments. This will be an attempt to vastly increase the quantity of type 1 cards and players in the area. There seems to be a lot of people interested in the format here, but cards and lack of tournaments seem to be the issue. Hopefully it won't be anymore after a couple of months.

So without further ado:

When: Saturday May 31st at noon
Where: The Green Dragon
            7671 Northwoods Blvd
             North Charleston, SC
Price: $20
Prizes: 100% payout, based on attendance. I will guarantee this though:

First 20 players to register will receive a free playset of BB Brainstorms
1st Place: Choice of 3 Underground Sea or 4x Force of Will
2nd Place: Whatever 1st doesn’t take
3rd and 4th: 1 Volcanic Island
5th through 8th: Demonic Tutor

A large turnout will result in higher prizes for 3rd – 8th. I’ve been buying up cards like Misdirection, Demonic, Fastbond, Sol Rings on eBay whenever I’ve seen a deal, so I can give 3rd-8th generous prizes and useful staples.

note to players: I will be playing in this tournament.

Questions, comments, trash talk…..let’s hear it!

EDIT: This tournament will be 30 proxies. The proxy limit will gradually reduce to 15 over the course of the tournaments.

Eric is doing a really good thing for the format down in the south.  I suggest anyone who can make it do so.  Support Vintage!

That really sucks. I got like a 6 hour hike to go there which is like $100 in gas. That said, I would have still gone but I've been in purgatory (work in CT) on and off since January. Done now though.

I understand the people from out of town not making the trip, because anything more than 2 hours to play is rough (time and money wise, even before $4 gas). I'm disappointed with the lack of local support from people that regularly play type 1 at the store.
