The disclaimer was meant to state that I am not really against the idea of creating a new format to play, since people love their brainstorms and probably want a format where they work.

Legacy much?
Or, slightly more seriously, sentiments such as "Oh if only there were a format where _______ works" are really slippery slopes to get into, particularly in any format which could be directly compared to Eternal.  I'm pretty sure ante players are well aware of this sentiment as well as people who never liked the banning of Dream Halls or Entomb or or or....

I mean, I know, it's not Dream Halls, it's Brainstorm, so it should be way more acceptable to just have that "I should be able to play this card if I want to" approach, right?  But objectively, it's not.  Why?  Because that argument can apply to Brainstorm the same as it applies to any of the non-ante non-Chaos b/r cards, since at one time it was probably fairly playable and by someone's standards, ought to remain so.

The whole idea of breaking off from the DCI is ridiculous.  It will not change anything the DCI does on it's B&R rulings, because it won't affect them one iota.  Like others have pointed out a democratic approach to the B&R will fail on so many levels because everyone has a biased opinion of every card printed, particularily those that are currently restricted.  If the community wants certain changes, we must organize well thought out petitions and arguements to present to the DCI.  Outside of that, a form of organized civil disobedience is probably another way to get a message across.  If, say, everyone that went to Vintage champs packed 4 of a restricted card (BS, Ponder, Dream Halls, etc.) in their decks and all the particpants failed a deck check would be a pretty clear message.  Or as I've said before the winners of Champs decline the prizes, I realize that would be a tough pill to swallow but it would be fair to say the Top 8 will be known Vintage leaders, thus making the statement that much more relevant.

Since this is a project that is in the works, the answers to all of your questions is: Yes, these issues have all been considered, and only through implementation of the logistics of the new sanctioning body will we be able to determine if all goes according to the plan. Like I've already said a million times before, there will be plenty of challenges but until the project fails in practice, theorizing that a project of this nature would fail horribly is nothing more than speculation.
So you're saying, "Until you've actually seen my idea fail, don't cite the numerous potential problems that need to be anticipated and avoided."?  It seems like anticipating these problems ahead of time is a good way to have this not fall flat on its face.

No, what I am saying is that it is fine to raise concerns with the issue and possible problems that might arise, but that it is premature to say that the project would fail simply because these problems exists. I would not rule out the possibility that these objections or issues could be resolved or circumvented entirely. Whether or not this idea will succeed or be beneficial to the format hinges more upon the resulting support it gets from the community as opposed to the depth by which the logistics are discussed in this thread.

OH GOD I missed one, bitch bitch bitch :D
Although Shah is sort of on the fringe, because it has a quality the other cards lack, as the simple act of running four of them and playing them can make the game simply cease to move forward.  I mean there's other weird combos you can do this with, like a series of Faceless Butchers, but all Shah has to do is resolve.
Anyway... yeah.
