San Antonio, Texas VINTAGE Tournament - 6/21/08

After a lot of coordinating and discussion, it is finally on! Saturday, June 21, 2008 at Genesis Games we will be holding the first of many vintage tournaments! The stats are as follows:

Prize:
X rounds of Swiss cut to Top 8
1st - Unlimited Mox Pearl (with 15+ players)
2nd-8th - Prize support pending on player turnout
(could include Vampiric+Demonic tutors, Dual lands, FoWs, Wasteland playset, Oath of druids playset, or store credit for any cards sold)

Entry Fee/Proxy:
$20 (with 10 proxies allowed) + $1 for each proxy beyond 10

As far as proxies - they must be legible with card name, casting cost, card type, newest errata text, P/T (for creatures). They must have all of the card's abilities/effects/requirements explicitly stated and there should be no discrepency between the proxies' physical properties with that of a real card (i.e. thickness, feel, weight, smell [<-- for crafty cheaters], etc.).  Use the SCG proxy guidelines as explained here: http://forums.starcitygames.com/viewtopic.php?t=291560&

Food will be for sale (2 slices of pizza + drink + bag of chips/candy) for $5
Commons/Uncommons/Rares for sale
Trading will be in abundance, so bring trade cards if you want!

Please note the time change from 2pm to 12pm noon.  This will allow enough time for the 4hrs away people drive in and be able to get home at a decnt hour.  The store opens at 12:00 noon, but will probably open 30 mins to an hour early to prepare for this event.

Seems cool; I'll try to make this.

Bit of advice:  If the store opens at 12pm, you can't close registration then.  Give a half hour or an hour for players to register, and announce that registration ends at whenever.  Otherwise people might get there too early and have to sit outside, or too late and be upset that they don't get to play.  If you clearly announce when registration begins and ends, it avoids that problem.

First tournament with the banned/restricted list.  This will be very exciting!

Just a reminder to everyone:  the DCI banned/restricted changes go into effect 6/20 - the tournament is on 6/21....so for those bad with dates, that means the new changes will be in full effect for this tourney.  First tourney post-restrictions! Woohoo!

Woohoo!  The tourney is finally here!  Hope to see all of you there tomorrow, 6/21/08.  Please feel free to call the store if you have any problems with directions, etc.  Registration starts at 11am, tourney at 12noon.  I will be helping to set up the store early, and we might open the doors before 11 to allow for trading, etc., if people are outside.
