DAT ART!

View Profile WWW
« on: July 10, 2008, 09:42:25 am »

A couple years ago I was able to get a playmat at GenCon04 that was great for artists to doodle on and eventually got it filled up.  After overuse and fading I retired this in hopes of keeping the artwork and have started looking for a new playmat.  Appearantly I got one of the few remaining playmats of this type, with the Chinese company that made going under or some such.

So I am currently searching for the best blank playmat that any one has tracked down for artwork and where I can purchase one.  Alot of the currently available playmats either have a ton of artwork in the background or have a wierd "pleathery" texture that doesn't let the ink soak in and rubs off eventually.

Anyone have some suggestions?

My Spellground Void mat has kept its art fairly well over the years; it's a bit faded but the ink is definitely soaked in. You can get them from most gaming shops, or from Khalsa Brain Games online directly. You could also just go to ebay and get some of those blank playmats that are made of the mousepad-like substance - don't know how much it bothers artists to have to draw on that, but they're certainly quite nice.

I have a Khalsa Games Playmat (I believe it is this one only in gray) and it's been fine for signatures.

I have a couple of pure blank white ones.  I got em off ebay.  Now if I could only find someone local who can print on them.

You could totally make your own with whatever design you want!

Get a design, go down to your local custom t-shirt place and bring an example of a playmat to show them what you want.  They can probably make you a playmat with your design--that's how GWS got ours done.

How much did this cost?  This is very interesting!
