Firescape
1RR
Enchantment
At the beginning of your upkeep, sacrifice a land.
All lands have "When this land comes into play, destroy two target lands."
When there are no lands in play, sacrifice Firescape.
When the river of flames run high the land spews fire until only ashes remains.

This was an idea I came up with a while back when I wanted to create a really destructive card the lashes out both ways. It is powerful but comes at a great cost for oneself and I think is does well in capturing reds destructive nature. In game I figured that it can either be used as a card to build a deck around or a card to use in decks with low mana curve to keep the in game land count low. So what does people think?

Oh yea and this is my first post here, so hi everyone !

This is basically a red Armageddon for only 3 mana. Play guys on turns 1-3 and then on turn four, play this and drop a land, killing two of the opponent's (and have a mana free to play with). Even if they retaliate by hitting two of your lands, you still have 2+ turns to keep getting free double-stone rains.

It's way too good, and even stronger if you're using creature or artifact mana. And it's insane with Crucible/Loam and Exploration effects.

The FIRST step to fixing this is to make it "when you control no lands, sacrifice Firescape". It's not enough, but it's a good start.

Killing only nonbasics, making it a Destructive Flow-type card, would do wonders too.

I think raising the mana cost with R is enough. That would raise the converted mana cost to the same as Armageddon (which is probobly to powerful to be reprinted but still) and make it harder to play with green (which is the main color of mana acc, in standard at least. But I doubt it is would be too powerful for  {1} {R} {R} {R} in other format). I think this would be enough, that means that without mana acc you can start to destroy lands in turn 5, with mana acc turn 4 (well maybe could be pushed to turn 3 but not very easy). And although quite powerful (especially with Crucible) it requires a bit to work proper and is quite fragile. Most decks has enchantment hate in the sideboard and a destroy enchantment the turn after it comes into play after you sacrificed your land can be devestating.

I feel like I'm raining in your parade today. Sorry!  Smile

As mentioned by Matt, this would likely appear in decks that can get around not having many lands in play.

Let's look at the extended card pool. You have accelleration whatever way you want it but I'd likely play something along the lines of Rites of Flourishing, BoP, Gruul signet/similiar, Privilliged Position, Firescape. At this point in the game every land you play (and you can play 2 per turn) is a free double Stone Rain and your opponent can't target your lands. The Gruul Karoo would probably appear

I'd say that at All lands have "When this land comes into play, destroy target land." it would still be an extremely powerful card. I'd also cost it closer to {R} {R} {R} {R} at a single land.

I presume that you'll be playing Terravore & Countryside Crusher along with this.

I'd also like to note how EXTREMELY unfun land destruction is. Players mostly hate it, because they don't even get a chance to play their spells. It's not a good idea to push it this hard.
