What cards do you name against the current metagame with Meddling Mage? I was just curious what people would say against TPS, Tez, Painters, Stax, etc. So if you would please share your advice or experience's with Meddling Mage.

Meddling Mage is more like poetry than science.

The major factors to consider when naming something with MM are the following:

#1) Thier Deck - are there any lynch-pins I can cut them off to really hurt them.  What are the most important 4-ofs in thier deck.

#2) My deck - what cards could they be running that hurt me most.

#3) Games Won and Lost - If you've won or lost game 1, and you're in game 2.  This makes naming the right card with MM even more difficult, but can be much more rewarding.

#4) Current Board, and Your hand - Sometime realizing that the only way they can win is with Tinker, Yawg, Lotus, or Etruth.  And naming a one-of late game that is there only out can be more back breaking than any 4-of.  Also if your playing against slaver and you have a relic on board naming something like Pithing Needle to protect it is smart.

If your in game-1, against an unknown opponent, and you have land -> mox -> MM.  Probably the best thing you can name is either Mana Drain or Dark Ritual.  As soon as you add other varibles ask the question: "what do I name with MM" is more like asking "How should I move my Knight in a game of Chess."

And much like chess puzzles, if you have any spesific gamestates where you didn't know what to name.  Write-em up and give us your list and the community will give you what ~they~ would have named given that state.

This is almost a clear mistake. Against an unknown opponent I'd rather play something else or keep my mana open to bluff/play stifle/negate than play a blind Meddling Mage. If you know what you're playing against MMage is 10 time stronger.

It's been a while since I played with Fish with Meddling Mage (I assume you play some sort of Fish variant) so I won't go into Tez or Painters.
Against TPS it depends on the rest of your hand/board and theirs. Tinker, Ritual and Tendrils are your main cards here. Of course you can add Chain of Vapor if you got an Ethersworn Canonist on the table for example, or Massacre post-board. If you're playing UBW fish and you just duressed them you can name a broken card in their hand you couldn't remove. Most of the time I found Tinker the hardest plan to stop so naming that is quite common.

If you're playing against Stax with Fish your main targets are Crucible and Triskelion in my opinion. Depends on whether you play Null Rod or not and if they run factories. Those two are the cards I feared most.
