I've been working on Tezz lists for several months now; I really missed playing old school Slaver with 4x Brainstorm and wanted to use some of my favorite cards.

After testing and tuning, I finally came to a list I felt confidant in.

Paul and our friend Will, kept losing to it and they felt it was a solid deck.

However, a few weeks ago, I started losing to them. It went beyond going 50/50 and I was frustrated. In fact, I told Paul I didn't want to waste the time and money playing my 'pile' because it was so bad. After a good amount of thought and a promise from Paul that if I scrubbed we wouldn't mention Magic on the car ride home, I decided to go and play for a good cause.

I decided to call my deck Ashtray Tezz, as it plays my favorite critter, welder. (Omage to the flavor text)

- My notes stopped when my pen died (RND1 game 1 lol  if anything is wrong or I've forgotten your name I am sorry)

Rnd 1 AJ Grasso

I've heard the name before, but never had the chance to meet him. AJ was a very nice guy and a great player. He was rolling a Landstill deck with Rods.. or I as I noted it Nullstill.

Game 1 was a blowout in his favor. I find that in the moment I can't take notes and concentrate on play and then I realize I can't think back and relive games.

I know he had Null Rod and Gorilla Shaman out and I tried to do something that got Dazed and FOWed...

Game 2 I turn 1 tinkered in an Inkwell.

Game 3 I'm on the draw and play LOA and draw a card. This is followed with Lotus land mox and other broken cards... We go back and forth and he lands a Shaman...I have Welder on the table. I play Tezz and it resolves and I get vault. He eats the Vault with shaman. Everytime I try to play and weld a mox into vault, he responds with Shaman. I use Tezz and get needle naming mox monkey...we shake hands and go our merry way.

Rnd 2 Matt Elias

He is playing Oath

Game 1 Blowout my favor

Game 2 We play draw go for a bit. I start playing bombs and deplete his counter magic. He tries to Oath and I annul. I eventually go infinite.

Rnd 3 -didn't write down his name but he was a nice guy playing Ichorid

Game 1 Ichorid does what it's supposed to

Game 2 I have jailor, Trinisphere

Game 3 I have Jailor, Crypt, Needle and Explosives

Rnd 4 -didn't write down his name but he was playing red/green (also a nice fellow)

Game 1 He wrecks me with a goyf and shaman

Game 2 I play sapphire, brainstorm and then go crypt, land tinker for vault and the mox, ket (Most broken hand ever!) As I'm tinkering, I stop on Inkwell and think I could def. run this guy to a W but I opted for the game next turn. As fate would have it, he top decks shaman and has land, lotus and eats my key....

Rnd 5 -didn't write down his name but he was playing red/green (also a nice fellow)

Game 1 I win

Game 2 He wins  (I can't rember anything other than his 2 kird apes in play)

Game 3 We are getting close to time and I tinker out Titan and blow up his lands, he magaes to edict me and lose more lands. I windmill slam a top deck Sower down and start playing draw go as fast as humanly possible. I rip Yawg Will and end the madness.

Rnd 6- Ichorid

Game 1 He wins

Game 2 I play lots of hate and win

Game 3 I win

Top 8 Paul Mastriano

My best friend, team mate and ride.... oye!

We know each other WAY to well..... He beats me in 2 with solid hands landing turn 1 confidants each time... (I can't seem to ever beat him when he gets a damn Bob!)

I end up 5th place and couldn't be happier. This was a great event for a great cause and I feel bad for the folks that missed out.

Thanks to EVERYONE involved and all of the players I had the chance to meet. Philly def. has some of the classiest players!

Wait what? I had the library not you! I was on the play but mulled to 6 and couldn't get more than 1-2 draws out of it because your threats kept me off it. It was actually a really good game. Coming down to a counter war over COV on your needle. (which obviously you won). Glad to see you went on to crush the swiss. I ended up 4-1-1 and missing on breakers. Sad
I hope to see you again in August for the steel city event! Congrats again on your finish.

FYI we played rd 3, not rd 2, and you never needed  or cast Annul in G2.   I never found an Oath to resolve.  My draws against you were jank.  I had to mull to 6 g1 and should've gone to 5, and i probably should've mulled g2 as well.

Anyway, congrats on the T8.  I'm hoping to make it out in August.

I was your opponent round 5. It was a very close, very enjoyable match.

Game 3 was sealed when you played EE for 0, blowing up my only mana source, a lonely Ruby. In response to that I REB'd your Sower, only to see you drop a Key and go infinite with Time Vault. Naturally I had a hand chock full of 2 drops (Goyfs, Null Rods, etc.) that would have housed if only I could have found a second mana source. Oh well, getting Armageddon'd twice from a Sundering Titan will do that I guess. Sad
