Well it was another fun and competative T1 event in Blue Bell. I'd, as always, like to thank everyone who attended, and to Mike Coyle and the staff at A.U. It's always a pleasure when I read all the great comments that people post about our events. When you hear that an event is well organized, run, and prize supported, it lets the organizer know they are doing something right. But it's the posts, e-mails, and personal comments I get that say our players are a great bunch to play with and great people to spend a day with. THAT is what makes an event as good as it is!

On that note, we all know by now that we lost our 2008 Champion, Dan Herd last week at the too young of an age of 25 and recently married. Let's all make a difference in the community by showing our support and attending our May event and playing in the T1 side event to honor Dan. I've had a very positive responce to this already. Please read the info in the tournament listing or on our web site for ways that we all can contribute!

Now on to the April event info......

without decklists, or even deck names, this is hardly a TO report. I'm assuming it's not, but for all we know this could have been a FNM t2 event.

Ahhhhhh, where are you not seeing names or decklists???? I'm guessing you looked at this when I took a break to take a good healthy dump and saved it, then picked up when done. Please give an old man a break. I ain't a trained typist, and can't crank out 1000 wpm! I still have the meta game to do if I can figure out what some of the untitled decklist are!

And besides, if you knew anything about Blue Bell T1 events, you'd know that none of these guys are good enough to play at a FNM!! LOL  Perhaps it was that Rocky Mountain High?!?!

But thanks for looking

Shivan Reef is an awesome call.

Wow, no Ichorid at that tournament. I wonder how sideboards would be different if everyone had known.

Cool to see Elves top 8 Smile Is that deck being discussed in any threads other than Top 8 at Myriad?
Would be nice to read.

Btw. his list is missing 3 cards MD, my guess some manastuff

Well, Nick Detweiler came to my tournament today having ditched all 9 of his board cards vs Ichorid, and then promptly joined team 0-2 drop after his second round pairing against it...Nick Coss hadn't been to Bluebell as he was fagging it up at the PTQ instead...

Wow, no Ichorid at that tournament. I wonder how sideboards would be different if everyone had known.

Well, Nick Detwiler came to my tournament today having ditched all 9 of his board cards vs Ichorid, and then promptly joined team 0-2 drop after his second round pairing against it...Nick Coss hadn't been to Bluebell as he was fagging it up at the PTQ instead...

That was a positively brutal experience.  There's a special place in hell for Dredge players.

I can't make sense of the metagame.  There was enough Dredge at TMD that it should be recognized, and yet when I went to Bluebell, armed with 4 Leylines, 2 Relics, 1 Crypt and a Pithing Needle, I saw no Dredge.  When I cut my Dredge hate, I run into Nick round 2.

Seems like there's some Dredge in New England, very little in the mid Atlantic.  I think you have to respect the deck enough to run sufficient hate.  Part of that is definitely about running sideboard cards that are versatile in other matchups.  I boarded the Relics in against Landstill at Bluebell as hate for their Crucibles.  Pithing Needle obviously serves multiple purposes.

If I could go back in time, I'd just have run my Bluebell board at Princeton.  Damn you Nick Coss!!!

Thank you, though unlikely the ability to block inkwell did come up at the event in 2 rounds. Plus the sundering titan in board very rarely touched my lands during the day.

I also have to agree that the lack of Ichorid did hinder my board plans, as several of my board cards never saw the light of day.

I could swear  that I counted up the cards on my deck list before I turned it in, but maybe I'm just lucky that there weren't deck checks before Top 8 (Not that it would've mattered much, since I got blown out in two rounds by the wonderful Mr. Davis anyway... O_o).

Anyway, the proper deck list (with proper spelling... I should rot in hell for misspelling Priest of Titania...)

I wish I could remember more about this tournament, but I honestly ddin't expect to top, so I didn't take notes or anything.  This is what i remember.  I'm not too good with names, so I only remember the names of a few of my opponents.  I apologize to those whose name's I have forgotten.

Round 1 Jeremy Beaver w/ Oath of Druids.

I took game 1, but I cannot remember if I prevailed with combo or turning Elves sideways.
Game 2 his opening  seven was Oath, creature, creature, other cards.  Terrible luck!  He had to mull.
From what I remember, he could not find an oath this game for the life of him, and I ended up ticking him down with little green men.

1 - 0

Round 2 ???

The gentleman I played round 2 was playing time vault / key.  He was honestly surprised by the combo kill game 1.  I don't remember if there was two games or three, but I remember that one of the games took a long time.  He took away my kill condition and two artifact destruction cards with three Extracts in a row.  (turns 1, 2, and I believe 3).  Fortunately, I had a Krosan grip in hand the entire time, and he never stumbled upon his combo anyway.

2 - 0

Round 3 ??? ( I told you I am terrible with names... -_-)

To my recollection, I believe my opponent was playing Time vault / Key  (probably tezz).  I am not exactly sure how this one went down.  I believe one game I won off beats, and another through combo on the back of Regal Force.  I believe this one went to three games, me winning the first, him the second, and me the third.

Round 4 Noah Cohen

In round four I got paired up with one of my Penn State teammates.  Since we were 3 - 0 at this point, we decided to ID and try to win at least one more round later.   I feel bad, because if we played this out, there's a good chance he would've made top instead of me.

3 - 0 - 1

Round 5 AJ Grasso.

This round was a total blowout.  I got murdered very quickly in two games.  I didn't think my match-up against Landstill was bad, but game 1 he Fire 'd two of my men when I was trying to combo out, and I was completely out of it for the rest of this match.  I had no idea what to do afterwards and once he had factories for blockers, I was pretty much done for.  I didn't even know what to board in, it was terrible.

3 - 1 - 1
Round 6 Evan Hundertmark ( I think ).

My opponent was playing 5c Stax, and while I was happy I managed to avoid Stax the rest of the day, I groaned when I made it to this round.  I don't remember much about Game 1, only that I got murdered by them there artifacts and the goblins who weld them.  Game two and three I boarded in the generous artifact hate in my sideboard, and luckily managed to cast  {1} {G} {G}Seeds of Innocence {1} {G} {G} when he was completely committed to the board.  Elvish beats won this game, with back up from Krosan Grip and Naturalize to keep welding shenanigans to a minimum.  Game three went similar to game 2, winning off the back of attacking Elves, seeds, and other artifact hate.

4 - 1 - 1

Top 8

Round 1  Joe Davis

This game was really fun, because my buddy mr. grimm was insulting me and cheering for Joe the entire time... Smile  Thanks, dude!  Anywho, Joe assembled his combo pieces both games.  I remember mulling low the second game, and getting blown out.  I wish I was at least able to make this one a real game... but oh well.

Yay Force of Will!   {G} {G} {G} {G} {G}

Final record:  4 - 2 - 1.

Overall I'm pretty happy with the way the day turned out!  I love going to tournaments at Blue Bell, because they're always a lot of fun.  And Pudge's.   Mmmmmm, Pudge's.

Once again I would like to apologize to all the great people I played against whose names I don't recall.  I'm so terrible with names!

Apart from the mistake in Ryan's list (I already guessed the missing fetchies), Jon's and Joe's list also each miss a maindeck card.

Great top8, thanks for the lists!

Apart from the mistake in Ryan's list (I already guessed the missing fetchies), Jon's and Joe's list also each miss a maindeck card.

Great top8, thanks for the lists!

Jon's list (my list) is missing a strip mine.

Simon, at every event except yours, it's kind of required to hand in a decklist instead of optional
