EDH ==

So I've pluged off the deep end and into a psudo-competative world of EDH.  I'm looking to construct some real powerful multiplayer EDH decks, but my skills as a deckbuilder seem to be lacking when I enter the realm of 99 card highlander decks =/

I'd really like to build an Eye of the Storm combo deck.  The basic idea is to run Eye of the Storm, along with the games most powerful untapping effects + cantrips.  Basically just storm up and kill the table via an unbelievably high storm count, with multiple brainfreeze activations and/or forced draw.

Notably:
Teferi + Eye of the storm = no one except me can play instants and sorceries.  Which means no one can hijack my storm.
So the idea is...

Teferi as a general.  And go sorta hardcore cantrips and smoothers to assemble combo.   This is sorta the "all in" approach to the deck, it won't really have too much else to do.

Azami as general. Except instead of running 'bad' wizards, run this combo with good wizards Smile .  Its kinda anti-synergistic with itself because I want both dudes AND instant/sorceries, however it functions better without Eye.

Sen Triplets as general.  Giving me more tools to exicute the combo (including a boatload of new B/W tutors for Eye, Academy Rector, Replenish/Entomb, Rituals, and a 2nd Hightide in the form of Bubbling Muck, and chant/abayance to also prevent hijacking).  But with a general that doesn't really help me combo (I guess she can protect me against 1 person...).

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Another hillariously bad Idea is:

Cascade Combo with a splash of Ixidron

So the idea here is play a 5c general like Maelstorm angel, Child of Alar, or Pogenitus... but really the general is a plan-C backup plan.

The core of the deck is a fairly low count of fetchs, duels.  Reinforced with a bunch of CMC-5 or greater cycling / landcycling creatures.    As well as 1 copy of each cascade card with CMC-5 or less.

The sideplan of this deck is to fill in the rest of the deck with CMC-5 or greater morph creatures along with Ixidron and Ixidor, Reality Sculptor.  So the early gameplan is to play out some morphs and chump block/attack with them, and cycle fatties.  Thus filling your yard with Akromas and other huge CMC guys.  Then hopefully you can draw into one of your 9 Cascade cards and cast it... flush past all your CMC-5+ cards and hit your only non-cascade non-CMC-5 card: Living End.

Its a bad plan, but I've goldfished it in solo MWS and it definately is looking at turn 4-6 cascade with hopefully 20~ish power in the yard.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Also Arcum Dagsan looks like he could be superbroken-combotastic.  But I'm not sure how to best build a deck with him.

========================================================================

Generally speaking (pun not really intended), what should I be looking at in terms of Lands/Mana, Removal/Control, and Cantrip/Draw effects.  I'm having trouble finding a solid distribution.  Also if anyone has some lists or links to look at for these style decks - I would appriciate that jumping off point.

Wow.  Just Wow.

That's -exactly- what I was looking for.  Just something to compare my decks to in terms of ratios

Thanks a ton!!

You're welcome. I actually never played the format yet, I am a big fan of Highlander and I hope I can play this soon. I asked the same question you did in another forum a while ago, I just copied you the answer I got.

I'm actually going to try a U/R control deck with Joihra or Niv-Mizzet as a general.

Sweeeet

That looks like good stuff.  I should probably check out the movie regardless.  Plus, the theme song is that instrumental piece with all the timpani action right?  I love timpanii timpanis?
"Also Zach Zarasupra" or something... played it in high school.  But not the timpani part

Also Sprach Zarathustra

or

"Thus Spake Zarathustra"

the movie you are looking for is "2001: A Space Odyssey" by Stanley Kubrick. It is awesome. Bonus points for synching w/ Echoes (Pink Floyd) on rewatch.
