Just curious, this occurred to me:

If you Mana Drain an uncounterable spell (let's assume Vexing Shusher), obviously the spell resolves, but will you then add  {2} to your mana pool at the beginning of your next main phase? I checked the official wording, and it doesn't include an "if the spell was really countered" clause, which makes me think that you do get the mana, but I'd like an "official" answer.

You still get the mana.

Mana Drain will resolve as normal, it just won't counter the spell it's targeting. This doesn't make Mana Drain's target illegal; it just means the spell isn't countered. Therefore, the rest of Mana Drain will still do its thing and you'll still get the mana.

Draining an Obliterate back in the day was always hilarious if nothing else.
