Xtreme Games
2108 E. Grand Ave
Lindenhurst, IL 60046

www.xtremegamesonline.com

Xtreme Games monthly Vintage tournament  We will be holding it on Sunday NOVEMBER 15TH, 2009

We will be giving away a unlimited  MOX EMERALD for first place guaranteed!!

All other prizes based on participation.

11 AM SIGN UP 12 NOON START  We will break after round 2 for a 1/2 hour lunch.

Hope to see all of you there!

25/25/25 rule:
Vintage 25-proxy unsanctioned tournament
$0.25 for each proxy after 25
$25 CASH entry

All proxies must follow these guidelines:

There are two types of acceptable proxies. The first and most basic is taking a basic land card and writing the details of the card on it. The second method is to take a card that shares some of the characteristics with the card that is being proxied and erase any characteristics that do not match, replacing them with the correct characteristics.

All proxies must have the following text neatly printed, using a extra fine point sharpie. Ball point pens may not be used:
• The full name of the card (no abbreviations or nicknames)
• Correct casting cost of the card including all colored mana symbols
• All relevant/game effecting text

When choosing what card to use as the base for an erased proxy players must follow these rules:
• The mana cost of the base spell must be the same as the card being proxied.
• The type of the card being proxied must be the same as the base card.
• The P/T of a creature being proxied must be the same as the base creature P/T
• When proxying a creature it may be difficult to find a creature where all characteristics match. In this case, mana cost is the most important, followed by the P/T, followed by the subtype. Any characteristics that do not match must be erased and corrected.
• The art box, card name, and text box must be totally erased. White out may not be used for this as it affects the stiffness of the card and may mark it.
• When adding text to the card do not use a ball point pen. A extra fine point sharpie is the best thing to use. A ball point pen can cause indentations on the card marking it.
• For clarity reasons, the use of cards with the new card frame is strongly encouraged

I am going to ask for the day off and hopefully make my presence felt. I should note that this is also the same weekend as grand prix Minneapolis and I dunno if it will effect the outcome.

Maybe if you collude enough to effectively buy it.

Your chances will only go down since I will be playing a real deck.

Leaving aside whether or not collusion should be allowed, I would highly appreciate the TO clearly laying out what forms of collusion are and are not acceptable at this event.  Ie. If collusion is allowed at this event, I don't want to be the only guy unaware of it since that's certainly a disadvantage.

What?  It's a magic event.  No collusion is allowed.  Clear enough now?

Now, that doesn't mean you can't prize split or that you're banned from doing things that people are allowed to do at PTQ's.  All you have to do is stay on the right side of that line.

Clear as mud.  Unless someone picks a DCI enforcement level and backs it up with threats to actually report misconduct/remove people from the event, the reality is that collusion is completely legal.

As it is at every event anyway, if you don't broadcast your agreement to the world. The reality is that this happens at nearly every tournament large or small, which was part of Vroman's original point about collusion and why it should be legal. But alas, let's not turn this into another thread about collusion. I thought my joke was awesome, but you people need to lighten up and just play some cards. That being said, I'll be seeing you guys at this tourney to slang that hotness. This will be my last Vintage tournament for a while, as most of my playing going forward will be solely dedicated to Legacy to prepare for the two upcoming Legacy GPs.

I still don't get it.  The default DCI stance is that Collusion isn't legal.  For some reason, even though vintage tournaments are run according to all the DCI rules (excepting proxies), you need someone to specifically spell out every little thing which is and is not allowed?  Colluding as defined in the DCI rules is illegal.  Whatever else you do, if it wouldn't get you kicked out of a PTQ, is fine.  So split, scoop to teammates, etc, if you want, but don't be dumb about it and read the DCI floor rules if you need help finding the line.  I'm not sure why you would expect this event to be run any differently than any other DCI sanctioned or Vintage event.

if it is somehow not clear, let me emphasize that my collusion stance is academic in nature, and even if I wanted to, the stlouis "team" is not really that organized. furthermore, one of my main pts is that truly profitable collusion opportunities are rare and dificult enough to identify, that its not worth trying. maybe Ive been obliviously passing up golden collusion opportunities my entire career, but so be it. lastly, Im confident Im one of the best players in the room at any tourney I go to, so I would be disinclined to arrange any split that involved someone else playing for my prize. maybe thats unwarranted arrogance, but at least should explain why Im not personally interested in collusion, despite my arguments for its legalization.

I might come to this tourney, but I haven't played in a tourney for a year, have no cards, and don't know anyone in my area who wants to go.

75 proxies = $25 + $12.50 @ $0.25 for 50.  Plus gas, if I'm on my own.

If I can find someone else to go, I'd love to make it.  Anyone know people in mid/southern Indiana?
