MWS
« on: November 30, 2009, 01:19:00 am »

Vintage opponents on MWS have been unusually unfortunate lately. I've always played in the "default" MWS channel (because I'm not too tech savvy and don't know any better). Are folks playing somewhere else? For example, I remember a thread a while back about a new Apprentice/MWS style program, but don't know what came of it. Or have the quality players switched to a different MWS channel?

Anyone with knowledge of a secret forum for quality online vintage play should feel free to PM me if they deem me worthy of access. Smile
Thanks!

Most Vintage players at least in the Netherlands just talk to each other on the dutch boards or on MSN / AIM / <insert IM messenger of choice> and just agree on date / time to be online for a game or they connect directly.  Speaking for myself, I'm never on MWS and I only use it to test with people from the US after we've talked online because I hate facing the randomz..

What Marske said.  Almost everyone I know avoids using MWS's matchfinder entirely, and only plays MWS with matches they pre-arrange with people they know, over AIM or IRC.  That may not be useful information for everyone, but you can certainly hop onto IRC and ask around.  #themanadrain discourages gamebegging, which is popping in and spamming requests for MWS games, but asking once and a while is fine, and if you combine it with deck discussion, even better.  I'm sure there are better channels for game finding that I dont frequent, as well (try looking for magic-league).  Good luck! (but if at all possible, try to play in person, and in tournaments, MWS is a poor substitute!)
