I've been a long time fan of Sporcle, which is a website that has little quizzes where you are generally asked to list as many of a certain thing as you can, such as countries in South America or elements of the Periodic Table, within a certain amount of time.

I recently discovered that there are actually far more quizzes on the site than just those featured on the front page. To my delight I found that there are a few Magic: the Gathering quizzes which I thought you guys might be interested in trying your hands at. I also made a new one for the Vintage Banned/Restricted List. I would guess that most people will struggle with the banned cards the most (I know I would have had I not been looking at the list a lot lately in making the quiz), but who knows. I can't vouch for the complete accuracy of the ones I didn't make, but they seem to be ok. The keyword and alpha set rares quizzes were much harder than I thought they would be. Enjoy!

Oh, also, if I made a mistake on the Vintage B/R or if you think something should be changed/added/removed, please let me know. Thanks.

Magic: the Gathering Sets (hints for this quiz include only year of printing; see other alternatives below)
Magic: the Gathering Keyword Abilities
Vintage Banned/Restricted List
Alpha Set Rares

Edit:

Another Magic sets quiz that includes block designations as help
Another Magic sets quiz that includes types of sets (e.g., base set, stand alone, etc.)

Nice finds.  If you have a few minutes to kill, I would definitely recommend taking these quizzes.

I got 76 out of the 91 sets.  I finished all the base sets and regular sets, and didn't have much time left when I realized you did promo sets too.  I have issue with some of the promos being sets, and I think it should only include actual cardboard cards.  You got my 8 minutes though.  GG.

Some of this post could be a spoiler, so I'm turning it yellow in case people don't want that. -MH

I got 79/91 sets. The ones I missed were all on the right column:

(highlight for spoiler text)

Rivals (never heard of this, although I may also own it),
Multiverse (I thought of the long box with the cheetah but couldn't remember the name),
Battle Royale,
Deckmasters,
Planechase (had the name wrong, thought it was Planeshift),
Elves vs. Goblins,
Masters Edition I, II, and III,
Starter 2000,
Collector's Edition, and
Astral.

Some of those were pretty sketchy!

Sporcle has two other magic set quizzes that don't include the non-regular sets or that have extra hints (such as mentioning the blocks). I actually forgot some pretty obvious ones that I wouldn't have forgotten had I been provided with the blocks.

These can be found by going to the menu on the side of the main Sporcle page, clicking "user created," then going to the bottom there is a little search engine where you can put in "gathering" or whatever term you want to find the other quizzes.

Oh man, only 63/116 on alpha rares. So bad. It took me forever to remember ante cards.

And 68/96 on abilities. A lot of "D'OH!" ones on there. I got the main Onslaught one in with 1 second to spare:

I just got 70 for alpha rares, which is absolutely awful, given how much Shandalar I played (and still play).

I got all the editions and expansions, and didn't realize that it also wanted promo stuff.  I got a lot of the recent ones (planescape, from the vault, duel decks, etc), but missed a lot of older stuff.  Though I did remember beatdown, anthologies, and chronicles.

Someone should really show the keywords quiz to R&D so they realize they've gone 10000 miles overboard.

I had a similar thought when I saw it. I had no idea there were so many keywords.

I think they realize this. They've been reusing keywords for awhile now: Kicker in ZEN, cycling has come back like four times, etc. The future sight ones that only appear on 1 card each don't really count IMO.

The master editions and astral are questionable includes in my opinion. I'd rather have vanguard on the list than those and that one seems questionable. You forgot summer magic and alternate 4th edition.  Including worldwake and slivers, neither of which have been released yet is just wrong. International collectors edition could be included as well.

Nether Void is absolutely terrible. I can't envision any game I've played with The Deck where I would have wanted everything to be mana leaked.

I only made the Vintage B/R List one.

Also, I'm going to edit the first post to include alternate magic set quizzes since the one I chose apparently hasn't been viewed favorably.

I missed half of the banned cards and of the half I missed, half of those I tried the wrong spelling.
As for the restricted list, I forgot Merchant Scroll, Flash, and Trinisphere.  What is amusing is that I was playing around with the new B/R stax list for the last hour as I watched DVR'd tv.  I reflected back as to how I could forget trinisphere and realized my mindset was ~ what cards provide absurd offensive advantages (card draw, mana, etc) where as trinisphere is one of the only ones that largely creates a disadvantage that is capitalized on, with the possible exception of balance.

AVOID MTG Fanatic! They remand orders and re-list the cards for more money.

I would have been mad at myself if I couldn't get every single restricted card.

However, I only got 54 of 58, because I missed:  Rebirth, Amulet of Quoz, Darkpact, and Timmerian Fiends!
