Why is a turn 3 sadistic sacrament relevant against ANT?...

If they try to win T1, then Spell Pierce matters. Most games they spend T1/2 either casting Xantid or building up permanent mana or trying to resolve their own Sad-Sac. In testing the ideal play of T1 Xantid, T2 win was rare. Also its quite possible for Oath to get T2 Sad-Sac by drawing or tutoring for Lotus.
With my board from last week, post-board games were like 80-20 in ANT's favor. Now its more like 60-40 in Oath's favor.

I won again.

Can anyone stop this guy?

It was great to finally meet you and Congratz on the split.

Can anyone stop this guy?

Seems a little extreme considering he won four matches.  That's what I have to do to Top 8 FNM.  The Iona-combo style deck is growing on me though, nice report.

Four matches at this event.  And like the last 5 he has played in.  I mean, have you seen how many "vroman - win" threads there have been lately?  It is a Mastriano-like tear for sure.

Sorry to rain on your parade but, besides the fact Vroman added Iona and Faerie conclave, my friend and team mate Zieby has won 1 event and top 8 several others with "combo" Oath revolving around the same mechanics Vroman used in this deck since early 2008. The fact that Vroman changed the Oath Dorks (we used Tyrant and Eternal Witness to combo) changes hardly anything.

That being said, congrats on the win Vroman seem like you're becoming unstoppable Wink

I gotta nitpick here.  Combo Oath has been around for a while, that's true.  No arguments on that.  But Iona Combo Oath is sort of a different animal.  If you want to combo, you always combo on your second Oath, and you also get to turn off your opponent's spells.  The old combo Oath lists were subpar, way worse than Angel or Dragon Oath (and I played against a LOT of Oath here in Milwaukee).  This new Oath deck with Iona is actually the best Oath deck, which Tyrant Oath could only claim when it had Gush.

Tyrant and Witness is a pretty big difference from Iona into Krosan Rec.

@LHC,
Our list was almost exactly the same as Vroman's, we didn't run Iona because it hadn't been printed at that time. We used Krosan Recl. + Witness to "combo" into TV / Key. To be fair, you make a good point, but to be honest, Oathing whatever dork (Iona, Tyrant, Witness) really doesn't make that big of a difference as our build also always combo'd out with the second Oath activation or sometimes even the first. Because Iona wasn't in print at that time we couldn't "turn off" the opponents spells but that seems very irrelevant, obviously we'd have run Iona if we had it back then.

I never claimed to have invented a new deck. I just posted what I was playing and others have come to call it vroman oath.

@Vroman,
I didn't suggest you claimed that, I was merely trying to tell Twaun the deck wasn't new. That being said, it's great the decks picking up and you've done very well with it. I'm looking forward to the next report and high finish Smile
