I'd like to start this off with a huge THANK YOU to everyone who attended! You guys are awesome. This event was not the most organized as I had no judge and had to play and TO at the same time. I also thank everyone for their patience as I fought with Wizards Event Reporter for the greater part of the day. It was also quite interesting that the store closed after the swiss rounds, so T8 was played in the lobby of the mall and T4 was played at the nearby bar/restaurant called The Trojan Horse. Honestly, I think the next time, we will plan to do the T8 at The Trojan Horse. The waitress was very excited that we came in and who doesn't love to drink alcohol while doing magical things!? We had 19 players, so 5 rounds, cut to T8. Prize support as following: 1st - Beta Mox Ruby 2nd - 1x Scalding Tarn 1x Misty Rainforest 3rd - 1x Scalding Tarn 4th - 1x Scalding Tarn 5-8th - 2x packs of Zendikar Standings at the end of Swiss: T8 Brackets: The entire album of photos including decklist scans can be found here HERE. The metagame breakdown: 1 Bitterblossom Control (~5%) 4 Tezz (~21%) 2 Stax (1 MonoR, 1 Twuan B/R) (~11%) 2 Vroath (~11%) 2 ANT (~11%) 3 Fish/Beats (GWU Fish, UB Fish, Meandeck Beats) (~16%) 2 Landstill (~11%) 2 The Deck (~11%) 1 Painter (~5%) I wish I had more time to type more, but I'm doing this on my lunch hour and I have to get back to work. Thanks again to everyone for supporting my event and I plan to have another!

Thanks for running this event. Despite the minor issues it was a good time for all of us from StL.
It should horrify me to see myself last on that standing sheet, but I do believe that is a personal best for lowest game win %.
Aside from the issues you already discussed, I do have one suggestion for the next event - if possible, go with an UL mox. The prize pool was ridiculously topheavy and I'm really surprised there wasn't a top 4 split. UL power allows a decent sized 2nd place prize (depending on attendance expectations a Blue dual or a Drain maybe?).
I really like how "The Deck" is looking. Definitely well positioned for the tournament, which judging by the breakdown is a fairly accurate representation of the meta at large, seeing as most major archetypes (except dredge) are present.

However, I have no control over what the store manager puts up for a prize. Please note that if the next tournament prize is an UL mox, I would expect better prize support for 2nd-8th or/and a lower entry fee.

Thanks Mike for hosting, I had a blast playing vintage with good magic players. (Including facing not one, but TWO meandeck guys in the top eight) Also, hooray for everyone being about as friendly as possible, something I have noticed is a glaring problem with Magic these days.
I obviously have no complaints about the prize support, considering I split for first, but in all practicality that's something to grumble at TGP instead of you about. Still, I know I wouldn't have been happy outside of splitting considering the kind of lameness outside of there. But at least Doug did get his Misty Rainforest.
Still, it was great meeting the meandeckers, and everyone else. I will totally get in on the next time you guys decide to throw down some vintage cards.

I think the most surreal thing is when a complete stranger you meet at a tournament hears your name and goes "Oh, yeah. I've read your stuff." It's kind of weird, yet feels good all at the same time.

Just to clarify my comment about the prize structure was a suggestion for improving the tournament and maybe attendance in the future, not a complaint by any means.

I understand. I will do everything I can to influence the future prize support in hopes of making it a more gradual grade from 1st to 8th.

Thanks Fizix for running the event. It was my first time playing in Vintage and the crowd really made for a good time. I was surprised by just how much I enjoyed the format honestly, as I just picked it up this past week. I had a lot of fun with my Fish build, and most of the people I played seemed to be having a good time. The draw in the final round was frustrating [As Winning that round would have put me to 7th on OMW%] since I was a single attack phase away from winning and my opponent didn't concede, knocking hopes for either of us making top 8 out. Still, I didn't ask him to concede and we didn't know each other so I shouldn't have expected anything.
I hope the next event you run is soon, and I'll do my best to try and rally more local players to participate next time you do [since I'm here in the Bloomington area].

I had a blast mike. I did horribly but when your opponents have better cards than you do in hand that's what happens, punting doesn't hurt either but I only did that in one game . The absolute best part of the night was the Trojan horse. I bought a round for vroman and two shots for myself and then dinner for me and Kurt. Even Preston was drinking and he was playing rofl. I think if a future one of these douse happen this is the place after words for drinks ( there food for what you get is kind of expensive ).

I just noticed that Doug Linn's list is 1 card short in the SB.
Doug or Willie, do you know what card is missing?

Sower #2, I think. Great event. I had a blast and there was a dearth of douchiness. Even with all the kinks in the plan (judge no-showing, etc) everything worked out fine, so I imagine with some more people and none of those problems the next mox tourney will be plenty strong. These events can be as big as you want, the difference being investment up front. If it gets any bigger, you need to get the 40k and Yugioh guys out of the way or have people play in the public areas, and that could be hard for a judge to cover. More advance notice is key.

The results of this tournmant were not posted on Morphling.de, and it's easy to understand why. Asking the morphling.de folks to look at scans of decklists, instead of typing them up is alot of work. Morphling.de is free advertising for your tournament. Maybe you'll want to do that.

Thanks for typing up some of the lists. I did 3 more, leaving only Michael's list which I am currently unable to read on my laptop (for some reason it is not possible to zoom in on the pictures). If someone could post Michael's list that would be awesome.
