In my sideboard I currently run

Yixlid Jailer

Creature - Zombie Wizard 2/1, 1B (2)
Cards in graveyards lose all abilities.

and

Ravenous Trap

Instant - Trap, 2BB (4)
If an opponent had three or more cards put into his or her graveyard from anywhere this turn, you may pay {0} rather than pay Ravenous Trap's mana cost.
Exile all cards from target player's graveyard.

I am beginning to think that if I'm not running 4 leylines (at least with a B manabase) then I'm doing it wrong.

Leyline of the void
[Enchantment, 2BB (4)
If Leyline of the Void is in your opening hand, you may begin the game with it on the battlefield.
If a card would be put into an opponent's graveyard from anywhere, exile it instead.

Are there other pieces I am missing and or not considering?  Can anyone speak to the benefits of running yixlid and ravenous trap over leylines?  Should they be run together?

Thanks!

It all depends on the deck you are playing but typically I like Leyline the most. The reason is that Jailer is often too slow, if you are on the draw and don't have a Mox or Ritual to accompany it, odds are against you ever resolving it. Ravenous Trap can be played around to some extent, for example by not dredging during the upkeep/draw phase and play a Therapy/Unmask then activate Bazaar. In addition to that, if you have no good plays to follow up on your Ravenous Trap, the Dredge player can easily come back. Leyline is insane, it's free, fast, crippling, can not be played around and can not be Therapied from your hand. All you have to do is protect it. The only bad thing about Leyline is, that it's hard for some decks to hardcast, that's the only reason to stay away from it in my opinion.

When I played dredge, Leyline was the only card I was afraid of, although Wasteland can hurt as well. Extirpate, Jailer, Tormods Crypt, Ravenous Trap, Pithing Needle etc. all have glaring weaknesses, Leylines weaknesses are a lot more subtle. That said, I know there are people who prefer different cards to combat dredge and they have been succesful in doing so. I do believe that in order to consistently beat dredge you need at least 6 or 7 cards that really hurt them.

I run wastelands and mainboard at the moment, and that showed some success with keeping bazaars out of business.

What do you call pithing needle against?  Dread return and Bazaar?

Obviously Planar void is a better top deck later in the game, but if you are going into game 2\3 vs dredge, you'd want to have leyline in your opening hand rather than planar as you require a black source with planar vs requiring nothing with leyline.

There was some extensive discussion on this topic here a little while ago.

When I'm playing a blue list with maindeck wastelands I usually have four cards in my sideboard for the mu, currently: 1 relic of progenitus 1 Ravenous Trap 2 Propganda. I also maindeck wastelands, grim lavamancer and fire and ice to deal with bridges and bazaars/undiscovered paradise.

I typically play tormods crypt, relic of progenitus, pithing needle, and if I happen to run a sweeper in the board, I'll play that also.  Jotun Grunt seems good too

If it wasn't for the fact that pithing needle can be brought in against other match ups I wouldn't even consider it a hate card against dredge because of how weak it is in the match up.
