If a player owns power or some other expensive cards ( 100$+) - is it legal to use a proxy for them if the card is present with the player but not being physically used?

The rules are rather clear on the acceptable reasons for using a proxy, and "I don't want to play with this expensive piece of cardboard" is not one of them.
