was wondering if shadow of doubt will be playable with all the tutors and fetches out there? i know that it will slow my opponent down alittle but was wondering if it might go well with anything?

i know this card can't be a dead hand card cause it can be fetched to fow, misdirection, unmask.

I've wondered this a few times myself. It seems to have the following advantages:

1. Counters DT,VT, GIfts, MT, ImpSeal, GrimT, Tinker. Good hard counter for 2 CMC vs many of the format's most broken spells.
2. Given the high number of fetchlands, it serves as 2 CMC land destruction at instant speed.
3. It freakin' Cantrips!, which is always a way to make a card way better at 2 CMC.

And yes, it pitches to FoW, which can be relevant.

The problem is, does it have a home? BUG Fish seems like the only deck that might really want this, as a way to counteract opposing broken plays without loosing a card and as extra mana denial. Does it do that better than Stifle? I'm not sure that it does - what if they already have Will and Tendrils, or Key and Vault (and you need to buy a turn to kill the vault)? It's twice as expensive, which i can only assume is why the far mroe powerful Trickbind doesn't see play, so this card has the same issue.

i think at the end fo the day the card is Vintage playable, but doesn;t really have a home in Vintage right now.

Maybe someone, maybe even someone like you, could change that.....

This card used to be in sullivan solution builds back when the dekc was good.  I love this card and always consider it.  I think it's actually a decent card against tez decks personally.  The thing is, it is virtually dead against shops and fish.  In the current meta game, it might be a pretty powerful thing to get caught by, especially if no one expects it. The real questions is whether or not to run more than one or two.  I think there is a home for this card, but no one has found it.

What if you temaed it up with Aven Mindscensor?  That match up would be totally annoying.   Very Happy

Extirpate is uncounterable, relevant vs Ichy and Iona Oath, undoes the same topdeck tutors, and still "counters" Gifts Ungiven.  For one mana.

I was playing SS when Extirpate was printed and it simply replaced Shadow Of Doubt.

Any interest in putting together/maintaining a Github Git project that hosts proven decks of all major archetypes and documents their changes over time?

The only thing I don't get about what you're saying is how it "counters" gift's ungiven? Sure it kills gift piles relying on rcusion to inevitably get one or two cards into hand/play, but what about the piles that are just - here's four things, and two of which let me kill you?
