I originally ran 2x Cruel instead of Bolas+_________________________, but I could not, for the life of me, manage to cast it so I threw that out the window.

The manabase can sometimes have issues, birds really helps clear that up though.  I'm not sure how strong the white splash is in the deck.  The wall of denial's have been amazing for me in testing because so many people run creatures and its so hard to deal with.  Path easily deals with spinx which i could normally not deal with.  Looking for suggestions to make it better right now.

I don't play standard, but I watched some of the coverage this past weekend of the SCG $5K (wherever it was).  One of the decks I saw which seems most similar to your list, but more consistent and powerful, is Grixis.

Grixis has a few advantages over trying to make all five colors work:
You get to play 4x Scalding Tarn, and 4x Terramorphic.  More than once I saw players cast Cruel off 7 basics, which is really amazing when you think about it.
Sphinx of Jwar Isle >> Maelstrom Archangel.  Shroud is huge right now, since Path and Terminate exist, and the Cunning Sparkmage/Basilisk Collar combo is running around.
Cruel Ultimatum is ridiculous.

I don't think Blightning is what you'll want to be doing, since you're losing the clock by taking out BBE.  The lack of good counterspells in Standard scares me a little as well, but there's no doubt in my mind that the endgame of Grixis is very good.  Lightning Bolt and Terminate are the back bone of your removal, but this deck would kill for an Edict.  Maybe Fleshbag Marauder is good enough to sideboard against non-Sprouting Thrinax decks?
