Mods I'm not trying to sell here, but if I'm breaking any other rule, sorry.

I'm about to graduate, hopefully buy an engagement ring, get rid of some loans, and move on with life. Has anyone sold a collection of cards before? How did you do it, and how did it go?

There aren't many players around me (in South Carolina) to arrange a meeting or pickup, so I'm most likely going to have to ship them off. That said, should I just list all of the rares and notable commons/uncommons on E-bay and throw the rest away/burn them? It would cost an insane amount of money to ship 15k+ cards, and a lot of them are repeat commons, basic lands, etc.

It's probably not worth selling the commons as singles, but you could always try selling them in repacks or as bulk lots.

Oh, sorry. I know this won't make as much money, but I'd really like to sell it all at once.

Also, is there a list of cards that have gone up lately because of Legacy development? There are times I'm going through cards and find things like several Exploration, Dream Halls, or Manabond and discover I'm holding some valuable cards that used to be worthless.

EDIT: I don't think I have enough big draw cards to sell repacks. 1 Time Vault, 1 Tarmogoyf, then some cards like non-blue duals and things in the $20-$40 range.

Post it on craigslist and mention the valuable cards that you have.  There is likely to be a reseller in your area that will give you anywhere from 50-80% of the value of your cards.  It will work out pretty well for you in that you can get rid of them all at once and then they can spend the time and effort to get full value on each card.  Unless you want to sell the singles yourself...

I was in the same situation as you about a year ago.

I sold all my power/drains/vintage staples on Ebay or to friends. Then, I sold all my below $20 rares in bulk. Finally, I kept all the lands/commons I couldn't sell.

Now, I'm so glad I kept it, as I'm getting my fiancee into playing peasant magic.

Either way, good luck.

You dont make as much, but I would sell it to a store. Helps promote the places that keep the game alive.  By a store I mean a place where people play, not a store like troll and toad or strike zone.

If you can wait a few months you could travel to one of the SCG $5k events in the area. They'll be in Atlanta the first weekend in May & in Charlotte on Halloween weekend.

Good luck!
