Relevant Oracle text:
Probe (Oracle)
2U
Sorcery
Kicker 1B
Draw three cards, then discard two cards.
If Probe was kicked, target player discards two cards.

Commandeer (Oracle)
5UU
Instant
You may exile two blue cards from your hand rather than pay Commandeer's mana cost.
Gain control of target noncreature spell. You may choose new targets for it. (If that spell is an artifact, enchantment, or planeswalker, the permanent enters the battlefield under your control.)

Question:
Probe's Oracle text does not match its written text, was there a functional change when the Oracle change was made?

In particular, if my opponent casts a kicked Probe and I Commandeer it, then it is still kicked, right?  Did that use to be the case?  (Because the card text was "if you paid the kicker cost", which *I* didn't once I've Commandeered the spell.)

Vintage is a lovely format, it's too bad so few people can play because the supply of power is so small.

Chess really changed when they decided to stop making Queens and Bishops.  I'm just glad I got my copies before the prices went crazy.

The spell was kicked, and you gain control of it and choose new targets, so you make target player discard 2 cards.  The oracle text and rules for kicker were revised right before Zendikar.
