Yeah, 2 months in a row, won a mox with Terastodon Oath, against the same guy with the same deck in the finals.  Didn't split either one.

// Sideboard:
SB: 1 Terastodon
SB: 2 Show and Tell
SB: 3 Nature's Claim
SB: 1 Jace, the Mind Sculptor
SB: 1 Tezzeret, the Seeker
SB: 1 Perish
SB: 1 Massacre
SB: 1 Nature's Ruin
SB: 2 Yixlid Jailer
SB: 2 Tormod's Crypt

Round 1:
James King (mirror)

Game 1: I have broken stuff, he does too, I get Oath up, counter his Time Vault (he has Key), name blue with Iona to shut off his Tinker in hand.  He plays Will and I lose.

Game 2: I play turn 2 Tinker--DSC with Spell Pierce backup, and he can't touch it.

Game 3: I open with Lotus, Island, Mox, and the choice of either playing Tezzeret (he has U up) or Recall with Jace backup.  I play the Recall, he Forces pitching Force, and I play Jace.  I start Brainstorming and draw insane good stuff.  By turn 4 or 5 I Drain his EOT Gifts, EOT my own Gifts for Key/Vault/Will/Regrowth, and he scoops.

Round 2:
Jake Kempfer (TPS)

Game 1: Blowout involving infinite broken cards and infinite Forces.  My opener was double Force, one blue card, double Oath, so he double Duresses the Oaths, then I Force some things, then he plays Jar and I hit double Force double blue card and keep him off Desire mana, then kill him eventually.

Game 2: I open with Lotus/stuff, and he Duresses me and takes the Oath.  I drop Island, Lotus, Mystical EOT for Recall, Recall into 0 land.  I Force a spell or two, then figure I have nothing to lose and blow Lotus to play Yawgmoth's Will to replay Recall and Lotus.  Recall hits Orchard, so I replay the Oath from the yard and Time Walk.  I hit Terastodon, take 2 minutes to figure out what to do, blow his 3 mana, leaving him with Mana Crypt and whatever he just Vamped for, and he scoops.

Round 3: Jerrod (DEEZ NOUGHTS)

Game 1 I mull to a slow 6, he has a slow 5.  I get an Oath down, bust out I think Iona on blue, and it's over.  At least, I think that's how it went.

Game 2: I keep an counter-heavy hand, Drain his Confidant, then Regrow the Drain.  He has nothing going on for a while, so I rip Lotus and hardcast Terastodon.  He Trickbinds the trigger, so I just Spell Pierce his Diabolic Edict and then kill him with the 9/9.

Round 4: Danny Friedman (ILL CORE BEATZ)

Game 1: I open Lotus, Key, Spell Pierce, Island, Forest, fetch, Brainstorm.  I do some things, draw Tinker, and Pierce his counter.  Key/Vault wins.

Game 2: I open Tezzeret, Force, Orchard, Mox, land, land.  I mull, and of course my top card was the Oath.  My 6 isn't bad, and I rip the Oath.  I go Orchard, Mox, Oath, and he Forces it, then drops Sword of Fire and Ice, next turn equips the token, and blows me out.  I shouldn't have led with the Orchard; that was my mistake.

Game 3: I open with something like Pierce, Brainstorm, Island, Forest, Mox, Key, Lotus.  I drop some stuff, pass, then rip Tezzeret and play it with Pierce backup.  I fetch Vault and play Key.  His only out is Hurkyl's Recall plus a counter.  He Time Walks, Scrolls for Force, and Hurk's me next turn.  I rip Oath off the top, resolve it, replay Mox and Key, fetch out Top, pass turn.  Next turn I Top on upkeep, then draw Vampiric Tutor.  I do the Key/Top thing, and he Annuls the Top when I replay it.  I fetch Jet with Tezzeret, Vamp for Orchard, pass turn.  Next turn I play Orchard, replay Vault for no reason, and he Snares it.  I EOT give him a guy and Oath up Iona, which is pretty good against an almost all-blue deck.  That's game.

Round 5: ID with Ryan Dubois with Ichorid.

Cut to top 4 due to 18 people.

Top 4:
Mike Noble with Tezzeret

Game 1: He keeps a terrible hand of 6 that was basically Sapphire, Mana Crypt, Mystic Remora.  I play turn 1 land, mox, Oath, giving him 2 cards.  One was Lotus, so he drops that and Tinkers out the Crypt, fetching Time Vault.  I find Orchard eventually and bring out Terastodon I think it was.

Game 2: I blow him out with something awesome.

Finals:
Jeff with Noble Fish again

Game 1:  I almost throw this one actually.  I have a nice basic-land-heavy hand, and we go back and forth a bit.  I play Oath, he Forces it, I Recall in response, and he Forces that too.  Like an idiot I Force pitching Tinker, for some reason thinking that would allow both spells to resolve.  I draw 3 terrible cards, but I have Regrowth in hand, so I can get it back if necessary.  Instead I hit another Oath, play that, and start Oathing.  I hit Iona first, name white in case he has Plowshares.  I then Regrow Time Walk, play it, and Oath again, at which point he scoops.

Game 2: I mull to 5 and get Force, Force, blue card, blue card, Sol Ring.  I decide not to go lower and almost pull it off, but not quite.  I mulled two awful hands hoping for a nice solid hand, but it was not to be.  He had 2 Strips, Trygon Predator, and Null Rod; if he had had anything less for hate I could have pulled it off.  The Rod shut me down way too much.

Game 3: I have a decent hand with Force, Jace, some good stuff.  Never saw any of my sb hate in all 3 games.  I play some basic lands and such.  He drops Meddling Mage on Show and Tell, with Ray of Revelation in hand.  I wait until he finally plays something else, a Trygon Predator.  I Drain it, then untap and play Jace.  He Stifles the Jace's Brainstorm, but I Time Walk.  Draw a card, Mystical for Tinker, draw it with Jace, Tinker out DSC with Force and Spell Pierce backup, and win.

DSC was great the whole day.  Drains were great the whole day.  I SB'd Library out about half the time, basically against decks where I wanted to be very aggressive.  I SB'd out Tinker-DSC against control and combo, pretty much anything that would have Hurkyl's Recall.  I boarded Jace/Tezzeret for the mirror, and for other control decks, because when the game goes long, both of those will just win, whether you play them turn 2 or turn 30.  I really liked the triple-Perish effect package, but I never drew them, so I don't know how good they are.  The key to beating Fish is just hitting a ton of mana, and going for basic lands.  I boarded Iona out in the mirror; you can't really cast her, and she's kind of underwhelming compared to the others.  Besides, what are you going to name?  Show and Tell only comes in if you're facing dedicated Oath hate such as Ray of Revelation or Blood Moon; you don't bring it in against decks that actually have big guys.  Vs Fish it's great because their biggest creature is Tarmogoyf.

Once again, props to Xtreme and to all my opponents.  It was a fun day for me, and I hope all my opponents enjoyed all our games; I know I did.  Everyone was very polite and played well.

Also, props to 710-REB.

Nothing short of amazing.  Congratulations on your finish, Ben.  Very interesting to see the list you played and your sideboarding decisions.  Makes total sense.  Huge props.

This format blows.

Round 1:  Stifle Naught

I duress him.  He has nothing.  I crack jar with UBB in pool.  I get NOTHING
in another game, I desire for 7, AND Jar, AND BARGAIN for 6... and hit NO mana producers.

Round 2:  Bant Fish (Eventual 2nd place)
Game 1:  I desire for TWELVE.  In that 12, I hit Memory Jar.  I Play Jar, then Play brainstorm and crack jar in response.  I play Necro but nothing else.  He hits null rod, and I die.
game 2:  He has a weak-as-fuck-hand.  I duress his spell pierce, leaving him with land, land, land, meddling mage, meddling mage.  I recall.  He draws a noble hierach.  I draw blanks.  He draws a card and plays mage on Chain of vpaor.  I draw a blank.  He draws and plays a mage on Tendrils, and a Child of Korlis.  I draw brainstorm and pass.  he draws (2 cards in hand) and I EOT Brainstorm.  I go to my turn, and cast Infest.  he has fucking force.  Nice job drawing runner-runner.

UGH this format frustrates me.

I like that Oath list, it's a nice blend between what you posted on the Elephant thread and the list I posted later in the thread, with Mana Drains.  How were Drains for you on the day?

'Grats on another strong finish.  This deck is really, really good.

Drains were amazing; I won several games off the strength of them.  They're definitely in the deck to stay.

In testing and the last two tournaments I played I  also very much liked the drains. Having hardcounters in a metagame where everyone is playing around Spell Pierce and the ability to counter key creatures in the Fish matchup proved to be invaluable. And it accelerates into brokeness too Smile
