I live in Wisconsin and the summer is bad on foils.  I put the valuable ones in a top loader, but want to protect common ones, too, so they are at least playable and not marked.  What is the best cheap way to prevent them from warping in the high heat and humidity?

I guess putting 4 or 5 of them together in a sleeves (faces towards eachother) keeps them playable. But to be honest I hae no expertise with extreme temperatures here in Belgium.

This is a trick I use to make foils straight again after they have warped. I used one of the older decks boxes, like th eone in the link, and I put all the foils I want to "fix" in it. I then fill the deck box, on both sides of the foils, with other cards. You have to make it a pretty tight fit, so eventually you will be adding one card at a time to the deck box, and pretty much having to force it in.  *insert that's what she said joke*  Once it's to the point you cant fit anymore in, just let it sit for a while and the foils become flat again.

A friend of mine goes even further by leaving the deck box in a shoe box filled with the silicone things from other shoes boxes as to keep the moisture out.

This may not be too helpful, but it was worth sharing.   Very Happy

I have a bookshelf or two that's more or less completely packed with books.  What I'll do is take a small batch of warped foils, take out two books from the shelf, put the foils between the books, and then put them back on the shelf.  Because the books are packed so tightly, the foils get flattened in a few days.

So I suppose I should take The Fringe back out of my sig now...

Thanks for the suggestions on correcting warped cards (I have been using the packed bookshelf for awhile now).  I am specifically looking for methods to prevent the warping from happening in the first place though.  Any ideas for that?  I don't want to load up a sleeve with 4 or 5 cards because then I will forget which cards are where.

@vassago: does the shoebox with silicon gel help prevent them from warping in the first place?

Just use Vassago's "fixing" method as the default when storing your deck. A foil that's continuously being flattened never gets a chance to bend.

I suppose it's mostly the thought that this format is just one big Mistake; and not even a very sophisticated one at that.
Much like humanity itself.

Not really, my friend thinks it helps with the moisture.  I think it's a bit more than I am willing to do, but to each his own.

Store each foil card in a KMC perfect fit sleeve (the tight, form-fitting clear sleeves), and then store the foils in a regular card box with your other cards. I have had success that way by keeping the foils tightly packed in KMC sleeves in long boxes along with my other cards without doing anything else extra special. This generally prevents warping here in Chicago, where the humidity is equally serious.
