After some prodding, I've recorded several podcasts on Eternal as a trial run.   I've been exploring possible ways to broadcast them.  One is to upload them and turn them into an actual podcast, but I don't have a server I can easily upload to, unless I ask SCG.

Imageshack hosts free photos.   Youtube hosts free video.  Why isn't there something like that for audio?  I found Houndbite.com, but they only take tiny files.    My podcasts are much longer.

Any suggestions?

You could upload it to Youtube with a random picture (Black Lotus?) as a video - this is quite common with older songs and various theme songs.

I would check out cachefly.com or maybe you could run it past revision 3 and let them know who you are and what you do to see if they would be interested in hosting. If they see it might go somewhere to make a weekly or monthly show out of it.

I would also check out this odd dream host invention http://wiki.dreamhost.com/index.php/Files_Forever

Any estimates on bandwidth needed?

This.  There is simply a 10 minute limit for basic accounts.  I use Windows Movie Maker to make Pimp/Altered cards vids.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6Qq1ZEHiXg is an example.  I am so impressed with LSV's draft vids on www.channelfireball.com that I was gonna ask him what software (hopefully free) lets him make them, and then start doing VIntage MWS vids! Smile

"Standard" audio compression is about 1MB = 1 minute, although voice audio doesn't need to be high quality as long as it's easily understandable.

It's not free... but it's about as cheap as you can get an still have a decent host.
libsyn.com/, with $5/month getting you 50MB and a page to host on.

I'm fairly certain that he uses Camtasia to record drafts, which is what we use at DraftMagic.com.  It's perfect for the job, as it can simultaneously record whatever visuals are on the monitor and audio from an external mic.  You can also adjust the margins of what's being recorded to make it fit around certain windows appropriately.

Rapidshare and megaupload both let you share large files for free.

Also if you use low birate mp3's even very long podcasts wont be too large, 64 is usually fine for a single person talking.

I think I'll do this!   What should the title of my podcast be?   Eternal Issues?  Exploring Eternal?

I don't know... nothing sums up Stephen Menendian more than "Eternal Issues."  Wink
