Potentially (if you were willing to try a multi-colored deck with no non-basic lands) you could play things like Channel the Suns and Rite of Flame.  Some of the Eldrazi enablers (Brood Birthing, Skittering Invasion) wouldn't be too hard to pull off either.  I can't imagine the deck wouldn't be glacially slow, though.

Go black red and splash for sweet winners like chain lightning and lava spike, tutor up a channel fireball on the shakiest mana base ever

So in the theoretical sorcery only MBC, what would you kill with? You get Demonic, Grim, and Imperial Seal for tutors, and you do get Tendrils, but how are you going to storm out with zero accelerants? Dela until you can drain life them for 20? Corrupt? How does this deal with High Tide? Or Goblins?

Theoretically, I was thinking of Promise of Power.

But as you and Jacob Orlove have pointed out, High Tide and Goblins would be very good in the format I initially mentioned. I can't think of any decks that would compete against them off the top of my head, so the "only one card type besides basics" might be a bad format for the side event. At this point I think "Vintage with only access to two card types in addition to basic lands that can tap for any color" would probably be a better format for the side event than my previous idea. Of course, I could be missing something again. I'd love to hear other people's ideas for formats.

I would be most interested in playing March, 1994 Type One.   that Type One is very unique because Antiquities was released, but MIshra's Workshop was unestricted, and Time Vault was not yet banned.

Of course, Legends had not yet been printed, either.   So, no Mana Drain.

Depends.  Would Transmute Artifact work like it used to, or after the BethMo Errata?

Would the BNR list be:

Restricted
Power
Regrowth
Wheel of Fortune
Braingeyser
Demonic Tutor

Banned
Ante cards
?

And would we be playing with all those old rules that I'm sure most of us would have to learn/relearn?

How about using it to test out wether or not certain cards REALLY need to be restricted? Just play with the current restrict list with a few of them unrestricted and see how it goes? Maybe create a poll in "Vintage issues" to find out which one to test.

I'm hearing lots of ideas, but gush-era vintage seems most popular.

I guess all that is left is to hammer out what that really means anyway.  Specifically, what sets haven't been printed yet and how is the B&R list different.

RIP Mogg Fanatic...at least you are still better than Fire Bowman!!!

I was once asked on MWS, what the highest I ever finished at a TMD Open was.  I replied, "I've never played in a Waterbury.  I was then called "A TOTAL NOOB!"

Just pretend it's May 2008??

No eventide, shards block, zendikar block, M10 or M11.  Time  vault doesnt work too.     =D
