I find it pretty silly that on some boards (for example article discussion) you can't post as a new user. Many people think that vintage is an elitist-format and the whole full member/new user thing with restricted access confirms this and it's so stupid. So do any of the mods got a good reason why i shouldn't be able to discuss an article?

Why isn't the system removed?

Maybe because we don't feel obligated to justify the structure of our website to every Tom, Dick, or Harry who comes along and believes that their personal approval of a community's long-standing organization is important. Speaking of which, we have a rule against posting complaints about moderation to the forums, which this post violates. You may want to invest 5 minutes in reading the site Rules, which include explanations for TMD policies. I'll be sitting here with my fingers crossed, hoping they satisfy you.  -DA

Actually, many boards require a certain number of posts before an account is granted full access.  The reason is because of all the spam bots out there.  What you encounter here is not unusual.

What Troy said is rather correct. It's not that we don't want people to post because we're elitist jerks or something, it's bound by number of posts (10 posts gets you into Basic user group) to help deal with Spambots that register and start posting everywhere. Also helps protect TMD from people registering an account to deliver a single line post (mostly flames) or stab at people which isn't uncommon either.

As it stands now, Basic users can post everywhere beyond "The Staff" boards (obviously because they are invisible to anybody not part of TMD's Staff). They can't create threads in Tournament announcement (for obvious reasons, we don't want 4 threads announcing the same tournament) requesting TO status is easy and TO's aren't bound to any rules (beyond having to request being put into this group)

It's also not a very uncommon thing to do on Internet fora, I hope this explains it.

Because we knew you were coming and wanted to piss you off.
