I have never played nor have any intention of playing MTGO but am pleased to see that more people will be exposed to old cards and older formats because of this.  If they reprinted all the vintage staples I would be tempted to play MTGO but I don't think I could rationalize spending any significant amount of money on digital cardboard.

I think that they should have old sets and packs for drafts.  The older sets can be a lot of fun.

Interesting.  Workshop will dominate (thank god I already got all my shop parts) as almost all of the parts are now online, and Dredge is there to punish the new workshop players. I appreciate the reprinting of duals to make it interesting to draft, but the format really needs a reprinted FoW.

thanks for posting this!

Anyone interested in testing the new classic format should try Cockatrice and look for me on there.

I hope you aren't suggesting that the Classic format is "new".

Perhaps you meant the new Classic meta...

The format might as well be new because the cards available change the metagame so much. Do you really expect Oath/Dredge/Bob Tendrils/Merfolk to stay dominant? Oath in particular is going to have a really hard time when people start maindecking Nature's Claim to splash hate on Gushbond/Vaultkey and workshops. This seems closer to the 1.5/Legacy split in 04 than it does the meta shifts that occur when a 2nd or 3rd set is added to Standard.

No.  Of course the meta will change

But suggesting the format is new is just as incorrect as suggesting Vintage was a "new" format when Time Vault was errated into it's current form. There are people who've been playing Classic for years. I found it personally a little insulting - it seemed to suggest that only now is classic a format, when it has obviously been so for some time.
