~16 players turnout, smaller than usual, not sure why.
Metagame Analysis: 0 stax (I think), 2 Dredge, 3-4 TPS/Bob Tendrils, 2-3 fish, 1 interesting homebrew, 2-3 Jace with Green, 2-3 Jace with Red
I brought nearly the same list as last time, with some cool maindeck Thada Adel tech (which never did anything):
1 Tolarian
1 Library
4 Deltas
3 Misty Rainforest
2 Tropical
3 Underground
1 Island
1 Swamp
8 SoLoMoxCrypt
1 Vault
1 Key
1 Sensei's Top
1 Tinker
1 Inkwell
4 FoW
3 Mana Drain
3 Spell Pierce
2 Nature's Claim (should probably have been Thoughtsieze)
4 Bob
4 Jace
2 Trygon (I was happy with going down to 2 of these, though the 1 Thada I put in never did anything but get removed for Fow)
1 Thada
1 Demonic Tutor
1 Vampiric
1 Mystical
1 Time Walk
1 Ancestral
1 Yawg Will
1 Ponder
1 Brainstorm
Sideboard:
4 Sower of Temptation
2 Nature's Claim
1 Trygon
3 Yixlid Jailer
2 Relic of Progenitus
1 Pithing Needle
1 Extirpate
1 Tormod's Crypt
Round 1: A cool guy who works at superstars whose name I don't remember, playing Jace/Tez with Red
Game 1: I get a huge yawg will for value and tinker out a robot, but don't have any counters left and he does a yawg will of his own and makes vault/key. I realized after the game that I missed an opportunity to pop a top to get vampiric tutor off the top of my deck and make vault/key with my own Tinker...

Game 2: Same story, but I hold on after my massive yawg will this time.
Game 3: I keep a weird hand with 2 lands and a bunch of business, but no Fow. He plays turn 1 mana crypt, and I regret not going for nature's claim on it right away because on his t2 he resolves Jace. His card advantage carries him to the end, but we run out of time, and due to some suboptimal play on his part, I do actually win a counterwar over his vault/key, so he doesn't have time to end the game and we draw.
Round 2: Charles Gordon with Jace/Bob Tendrils
He just demolishes me, necropotence in game 1 and huge I think also in game 2 with plenty of counterspell insurance.
Round 3: Another guy whose name I can't remember with goblins.
Game 1: He beats my face.
Game 2: I Sower of Temptation his earwig squads twice and that tempo/card advantage carries me through.
Game 3: I basically have control the whole way through thanks to Library of Alexandria and Jace, and eventually play a couple sowers and tinker a robot.
1-1-1, I'm thinking if I win the next 2 rounds I have a shot of making the cut to top 4.
Round 4: I really need to remember these players' names, with Channel/Lich's Mirror combo.
Game 1: He resolves a channel through my Fow with his own Fow, plays Lich's Mirror, does the draw7 thing, and just completely fizzles. He never gets back in as I have a Jace.
Game 2: He keeps a super loose 1-lander and I have turn 1 sensei's top and a sideboarded Relic of Progenitus (thought I'd try it), turn 2 Jace, with 2 spell pierces and 1 Fow left over, and a TON of mana (3 moxes, a sol ring, a tolarian, etc.). Jace gets there slowly.
Round 5: Eric, the judge who usually doesn't play!
He is 2-2 at this point and scoops to me since he knows I can top 4 if I pick up the "win" here, and he can't.
We in the top 4 sit around for a few minutes and talk our way into a 4-way split, since the prize support was mox or $350 for first, $25 (!) for second, haha. That's how it goes when you give away a mox and have only 16 people show up. Need more players! At least everyone in the top 4 was cool so nobody had to go home empty handed.
Props:
this cool guy who I picked up some FBB dual lands from
Eric for being a cool guy and giving me the scoop
My new Polluted Delta artworks
Slops:
me for not Nature's Claiming my opponents' sol rings and mana crypts enough
me for not going red for Lightning Bolt, or just sticking with the Thoughtsiezes I had last time
me for not going for vault/key often enough
Thada Adel for never showing up except when it didn't matter anymore
Can't wait to see what happens in the next one with the new DCI announcement! Cah-raaaazy!
