Champaign-Urbana Illinois used to have a thriving Vintage scene.  The tournaments suddenly stopped being run one day.  We at Armored Gopher Games, in our continuing campaign to grow the Magic community in central Illinois, are running this Vintage tournament to bring Vintage back to it's proper spotlight:

    * Entry fee is $10. Each entrant is allowed up to 10 proxies with their entry to the event, and can purchase additional proxies for $0.25/proxy with entry fee up to 25 proxies.
    * Tournament will have a number of swiss rounds depending on number of participants, prizes to be given after swiss rounds (no top 8).
    * Decklists are required and any proxies must be clearly indicated on said decklists (example:  if you are playing 4 Underground Sea and are proxying three of them, you will write "4 Underground Sea-3 Proxy).

PROXIES

Our proxy rules are pretty similar to the proxy rules of other events. There are two ways to make a proxy:  The first is taking a basic land card and writing the details of the card on it. The second method is to take a card that shares some of the characteristics with the card that is being proxied and erase any characteristics that do not match, replacing them with the correct characteristics.

All proxies must have the following text neatly printed, using a sharpie. Ball point pens may not be used:

    * The full name of the card.
    * Correct casting cost of the card including all colored mana symbols.
    * All relevant/game affecting text.

PRIZES

    * 1st Place: Demonic Tutor (Alpha) (Condition: VERY Played, but still very recognizable for what it is)
    * Prizes for 2nd onward (through top half of the field, round down) will be awarded booster packs of Scars of Mirrodin, allocated based on the number of players there are for the tournament. Each players entry beyond the fourth will contribute two booster packs to this prize pool.
    * Additional door prizes will also be given away at the end of the event for players that played all rounds of the tournament.

Our store is located south of I-74.  If you live north or south of Urbana, take I-57 towards Champaign, merge onto I-74, get off on Cunningham Ave and head south.  If you live east or west, simply use I-74 towards Champaign, get off on Cunningham Ave. and head south.  We are located at the very end of the strip mall (there is a Dollar General and Harbor Freight.  If you hit Walgreens you have went to far.)

If you plan to attend this, please sign up on our website or by calling the store at 217 344-GAME.  We don't require you to prepay however signing up reserves your seat.  We only have space for 32 players in the event.  We have singles, sleeves, deck boxes and other gaming supplies that you may need.  The more people we get, the more likely that the store owner will want to host Vintage in the near future, so please come join us.  We look forward to seeing you there!

Might need to start diging for cards asap but I think I might be able to swing the 10 or up proxie limit. Going to ask for this off tomarrow and see what happens.

Remember that it's $10 for 10 proxies, you can go up to 25 for $0.25/proxy if you need to run more.  It looks like we have a Vintage metagame developing from what I understand.  Several people from Champaign/Urbana are working on several different decks all over the Vintage gauntlet.  The only thing I think might hurt us is that we are trying to run it on Thanksgiving weekend, not a good plan in hindsight.  There's at least 3 people I've heard from that can't make it for that reason.  At any rate, it's going to be quite a fun event, hopefully we can revive Champaign-Urbana's Vintage scene!
