Initial proposal:

Learn from the Ancients  {1} {U} {G}
Instant
Draw three cards, then discard two cards unless you discard a creature card.

Having begun to play around with a Riku led Commander deck, I'm surprised a card like this doesn't exist.  Would this be too powerful?  The only potential area of abuse I see is (Legacy) Reanimator, or Sneak, NOrder, and Show (which may want to discard Prog or Emrakul etc).

With a more restrictive mana cost than Thirst I think this is probably fine, but playable in Legacy, unplayable in Vintage, and great for Commander.

Most current version:

Learn from the Ancients  {1} {U} {G}
Instant
Draw three cards, then discard two cards unless you discard a creature card.

Vintage is a lovely format, it's too bad so few people can play because the supply of power is so small.

Chess really changed when they decided to stop making Queens and Bishops.  I'm just glad I got my copies before the prices went crazy.

Seems fair to me.  Clearly comparable to TfK or Compulsive Research.  Probably more likely to be printed as a sorcery.  There is also a slight color pie issue, as green usually doesn't get to draw cards.

Exile Ancestral and turn Tiago sideways.

Hunter's Insight, Momentous Fall, and Soul's Majesty would like a word with you.

Any interest in putting together/maintaining a Github Git project that hosts proven decks of all major archetypes and documents their changes over time?

Duck's on-point on this one, the color pie has shifted the past 5ish years especially.  New Garruk, also an example.  It would be a bit out of place in Green before a certain point, but not so much these days.  With a blue splash, it seems dead on.

I actually really like this, although I suspect if it were printed today, it'd be a Sorcery and not an Instant.

Might make it as an instant if it's in future Commander product or the like instead of a standard legal set.  Maybe next year we'll see five three color shard decks, and this could go in the Bant colored one.

Along with Edric and Selkie, and at instant speed, I think it could be abused.

Where? in Vintage?  I doubt it.  How many three mana-cost card drawers is a Fish deck going to play?  Plus, this one draws cards while *not* dealing damage, which kinda stinks for Fish.
