Hi all! Every week, I'm going to start a 8-player single elimination bracket. Rules are very similar to the TMD online invitational: 1. Games are played publicly on Cockatrice 2. Players have at most a week to complete each match. 3. Lists must be posted after all round 1 matches are complete. 3a. You cannot change lists between rounds. 3b. You must show your list at the beginning of each match after the first so your opponent can verify against your posted list. 4. Prize is the opportunity to play a featured match against a well-recognized member of the Vintage community. (Volunteers?) 5. Drops after the bracket is drawn are final. Nobody can fill that slot. 6. Brackets will be fully randomized. There will be no preference or "seeds" of any kind. Registration will be closed once we have 8 people or about a week passes and I remember to draw up a bracket. Players signed up as of last update: 1. AmbivalentDuck 2. Nataz 3. Evouga 4. Guli 5. serracollector 6. A.-1. 7. Shock Wave 8. ErtaiAdept First matches must be complete by March 5th. If all matches complete before then, the next set will be due within a week, and so on.

I won against serracollector 2-0 in some fairly intense games. The matchup was UR Landstill vs. MonoU Delver.dec . I used the same list as in the previous Duck events (6,9).
G1: He resolves Ancestral early but I am able to battle back on the strength of Lava Dart. It eats up his early Delver pressure over the next few turns, and eventually I am able to resolve a Crucible that he has to spend significant resources to deal with: bounce, fow+blue card, Drain. Eventually we get back to card parity after he plays Surgical Extraction on a factory that he had wasted, but then he plays a Standstill while I have my only Factory on board. I draw a Wasteland and he is forced to crack his own Standstill. I win on the following turn.
G2: -Rods, -Standstill, -Misd, +Bolts,Rebs . I have Wasteland, fetch, volc, lava dart, drain, mystical, standstill. I feel this is quite strong against his deck since his early pressure is the only element I fear, and Dart protects me well from that. He has AR again on my upkeep, but I don't really care about it since he doesn't have much to accelerate into. He draws cards and then discards land on his following turn. I slowly build up while he opts to use cards like Surgical Extraction on my lands, which is quite weak against Landstill. He manages to get rid of my factories and wastelands, but doesn't have a way to put me under the gun. After he is spent on resources, I tutor up Ancestral with protection, resolve it and draw into threats: Conclave, Library, and Crucible. I wait for a permission spell and then resolve Crucible with Strip Mine in the yard. I play Standstill and he concedes.
GGs serracollector.

I left the game open but was just able to get back to it now. Fifteen or so randoms tried joining the game in the time since our match lol. Here are the details of the match. I was on MUD. G1: He wins the roll and plays Bazaar. I Wasteland. He plays another Bazaar . He ends up with a Bloodghast in play and a Therapy and three Bridges in the yard. He Therapies naming FoW and sees that I'm on Shops. I play a Metamorph to pop his Bridges, but it's too little too late. Zombies and two Ichorids make quick work of me. G2: I mull to six. He Powders a Narco and two Bloodghasts away, mulls, and then keeps six. I play Ancient Tomb, Chalice at one, and Tormod's Crypt. He plays Bazaar. I play Workshop and Trinisphere which brings his game plan to a grinding halt. He got stuck holding Serenity and Nature's Claim. Unfortunately, I have no clock or Waste effect which buys him several turns. He was dredging a little aggresively but still had outs with eight cards left in his library. My multiple Crypts forced him into a corner, but if he could find the two lands left in the deck, he could possibly win. I still haven't found one of my seven Waste effects at this point leaving an opening for him to cast spells if he could find those lands before decking. The City of Brass and Dakmor Salvage end up being the last two cards in the deck, and I win before he can get enough power online. G3: I draw my seven and realize that I sideboarded incorrectly. I mistakenly left a Smokestack in which I must've missed when clicking and dragging. I still had 60 cards in my deck so I didn't notice the error until I drew it. Anyway, I mull to six, and he goes to four with a Bazaar. I play Tomb, Sol Ring, Thorn, and Tormod's Crypt. Turn two a Chalice at one, three a Crucible. Again though I can't find a Waste effect. I pop the Crypt with two Bloodghast and a Bridge in the yard. Two turns later, I play Crypt and Metamorph copying Crypt. I pop one of the Crypts on his upkeep with a Bridge, two Ichorids, and two black creatures in his yard. I then pop the last Crypt with a Narcomoeba trigger on the stack and a Bloodghast in the yard. He finds the last Bloodghast and last Ichorid before I can find any creature, Waste effect, or Factory with Crucible out. I felt pretty unlucky all three games, but they were still very interactive and exciting. GGs nataz. I'll see you in the next one for our rubber match.

Beat Guli 2-0 with emidln's Doomsday build...updated with *gasp* a Darkblast in the sideboard. Since this is clearly the most significant change ever made to a deck, I propose calling it Darkblast Doomsday.
4 Polluted Delta 3 Misty Rainforest 4 Underground Sea 1 Tropical Island 2 Island 1 Black Lotus 1 Mox Jet 1 Mox Sapphire 1 Lotus Petal 4 Dark Ritual 1 Tendrils of Agony 4 Doomsday 1 Fastbond 1 Yawgmoth's Will 4 Force of Will 4 Flusterstorm 2 Hurkyl's Recall 1 Ancestral Recall 1 Brainstorm 4 Gush 4 Gitaxian Probe 4 Preordain 1 Demonic Tutor 1 Vampiric Tutor 1 Mystical Tutor 1 Imperial Seal 1 Merchant Scroll 1 Laboratory Maniac 1 Necropotence SB: 3 Steel Sabotage SB: 2 Hurkyl's Recall SB: 1 Mana Crypt SB: 1 Sol Ring SB: 1 Tinker SB: 1 Blightsteel Colossus SB: 1 Mox Emerald SB: 1 Island SB: 2 Xantid Swarm SB: 1 Time Walk SB: 1 Darkblast
I'm a bit tipsy during these games and made some errors that could have cost me the game. Luckily, I topdecked and Guli didn't.
G1: I open a hand of concentrated awesome. He counters almost everything I play, but that's not enough to keep Doomsday from finding more awesome. I eventually resolve it with Gush backup. I totally fudge the pile and have to pass the turn to win. Luckily, this takes me to one life, but doesn't cost me the game.
G2: He mulls to 6 and drops a Lotus...and passes. I have 2x Xantid Swarm in hand. He drops Jace next turn and Brainstorms. We fight briefly over my Swarm, but he elects not to bounce it one turn since I only have 3 cards in hand and elects instead to block it. Well, those three cards were Gush, Imperial Seal, and Yawgmoth's Will. The game swiftly ends in my favor.
Good games Guli. Well fought, but I lucked out this time.

Dredge vs Dragon Breath Oath
G1: I get off to a solid start, but see no bridges after dredging 18 cards. I hold him off for a while but can't get out fast enough to stop is vault key.
Loss
G2: I board against leylines hate since against oath it does double duty. I mull to 6 and so does he. I see no Leyline and procede to play a Bazaar and start dredging. He leads off with an Oath which meets a naturalize. I dredge like crazy on my next turn only to meet a Ravenous Trap when I attempt to therapy him. With all of my bridges in the yard that hurt a lot. I'm able to keep pressure on him with Narcos and Bloodghasts and win this one after he activates oath hitting Blightsteel. Unfortunately he was too low on life for it to matter without the dragon's breath.
Win
G3: This wasn't a game so much as a massacre. I fan out my 7 and see 2 bridges, a bazaar, city of brass, and a chain of vapor. I've got this one in the bag. NOPE! He opens with land mox lotus -> Tinker for blightsteel -> Dragons Breath.
Game Over.
That last game was dissapointing to say the least, but overall it was a good match.
Evoulga gets there 2-1.
Cage Breaker Dredge v2 4 Mental Misstep 3 Nature's Claim 4 Narcomoeba 1 Sun Titan 4 Stinkweed Imp 4 Golgari Grave-Troll 2 Golgari Thug 4 Serum Powder 4 Bazaar of Baghdad 2 Dread Return 1 Flame-Kin Zealot 4 Cabal Therapy 4 Bloodghast 2 Ichorid 4 Bridge from Below 4 Undiscovered Paradise 3 City of Brass 2 Dakmor Salvage 2 Fatestitcher 1 Ancient Grudge 1 Darkblast SB: 4 Chain of Vapor SB: 2 Ingot Chewer SB: 1 City of Brass SB: 2 Petrified Field SB: 1 Ichorid SB: 1 Firestorm SB: 1 Serenity SB: 2 Wispmare SB: 1 Nature's Claim

Got there vs Duck in 3 games. Sorry I don't have much of the details.
G1: This one goes quickly. I have a strong hand with LOA, FoW, Misstep, Misd ... I was sure to win this game, but he overpowers me with a Fastbond + double Flusterstorm backup.
G2: I board in REBs, board out Crucible and a Jace. I forget exactly what happens, but I land a T2 Jace off Lotus, and he goes all-in with a Doomsday on his next turn. I Jacaestorm into a Rod and a Waste, and lock him out of his plan.
G3: I mull to six but I have FoW, Misd, Lotus, and REB. I play Lotus and he tries Ancestral with Flusterstorm backup, but my Lotus dodges the storm copies and I end up with the 3 cards from AR. One of them is Mystical, so I tutor up my AR at EOT and resolve it on my turn. Unfortunately, I draw a bunch of factories and useless cards. I try to Waste a land but he has a Gush. I pass the turn with nothing but a FoW, REB, and 5 lands in hand, but he can't put anything together on his next turn. I Waste another land and he starts discarding on his turn. Finally I draw a Drain to give myself good protection, and he can't draw any mana to help his cause.
GGs Duck!

I (Dragon Oath) beat Nataz (Dredge) 2-0.
Game 1 Nataz mulligans to oblivion. A disappointing way to steal G1, but it's hard to feel too sorry for Dredge...
Game 2 we both mulligan to 6, and I start with a pair of Leylines. I Misstep his first attempt to bounce one of the Leylines, and he cannot recover.
My list (fairly standard):
4 Oath of Druids 4 Forbidden Orchard 1 Emrakul, the Aeons Torn 1 Blightsteel Colossus 1 Tinker 1 Black Lotus 1 Mox Emerald 1 Mox Jet 1 Mox Pearl 1 Mox Ruby 1 Mox Sapphire 2 Sensei's Divining Top 4 Force of Will 1 Ancestral Recall 1 Demonic Tutor 1 Vampiric Tutor 1 Brainstorm 2 Jace, the Mind Sculptor 1 Island 1 Forest 2 Underground Sea 1 Tropical Island 2 Preordain 1 Hurkyl's Recall 2 Polluted Delta 1 Scalding Tarn 4 Misty Rainforest 1 Voltaic Key 1 Time Vault 4 Mental Misstep 2 Spell Pierce 1 Repeal 1 Yawgmoth's Will 2 Dragon Breath 1 Time Walk 2 See Beyond 1 Sol Ring SB: 4 Leyline of the Void SB: 1 Massacre SB: 2 Ravenous Trap SB: 4 Nature's Claim SB: 1 Mindbreak Trap SB: 2 Flusterstorm SB: 1 Repeal

My list (fairly standard): Lists need to be posted after round 1. There's some potential for abuse even if I have no reason to believe that anyone's actually doing so. Warning for not posting your decklist in a timely fashion. To be consistent, if this happens again, I have to award a game loss.

Really, we're giving warnings now? Not to put too fine a point on it, but there are 8 participants in the tourney and only 4 posted decklists, mine included.

@duck, Evo did ship it to me before the match started.
I get that you want to be consistent, just wanted ppl to know it wasn't anything cheaty.
I don't have much in the way of match notes. Mull to oblivion g1, g2 he countered my early leyline removal and that was that.

I got there in 2 against evouga's Dragon Oath.
G1: I remember G1 being interesting. We basically played draw-go until evouga cast See Beyond on his main step which I tried to Drain and he FoW'd. I let that go then untapped and resolved Standstill. He resolved Jace on his turn with only 1 card and a Key on board, but he had to JaceSculpt me because I had a factory that could kill Jace quickly. I had drawn a Chain from the Standstill, so I bounced the Jace on my turn and tried to Drain when he replayed it, but he FoW'd back leaving him with 0 cards. He Jace sculpted again, but I played another Factory on my turn, swung for 3, and then killed Jace with LavaDart+Flashback. He drew nothing on his turn, I untapped and played Rod to shut off his board, and then Crucible followed to wrap it up.
G2: -1 Shaman, Mystical, Conclave, Lava Dart, Standstill, Chain, +4 Cage, +2 REB. This one was over fast. We battled over a Top in the early game, which ended up countered. He plays Orchard/Oath on his next turn, but I have a Cage on my turn, and he doesn't have an answer for it. I play a Crucible shortly afterwards and that's the game.
GGs!
