I figured since it seemed like a lot of people liked the list I ran I would write a report on how it played.  I didn't play test a single game with it as straight UB, originally it was UBR with magus, so it wasn't as tuned as id like the list but i still managed to top 8.

Here is the the list:

MD:

The Beatdown:
4 Snapcaster Mage
4 Dark Confidant
1 Vendilion Clique
1 Phantasmal Image
1 Trinket Mage

Equipment:
2 Runechanter's Pike
1 Skullclamp

Planeswalkers:
1 Liliana of the Veil
1 Jace, the Mind Sculptor

Card Advantage:
1 Brainstorm
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Demonic Tutor
1 Vampiric Tutor
1 Noxious Revival
2 Gitaxian Probe
2 Preordain
1 Merchant Scroll

Countermagic:
4 Force of Will
2 Mental Misstep
1 Misdirection
1 Mindbreak Trap

Mana Sources:
1 Lotus Petal
1 Black Lotus
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Ruby
1 Mox Pearl
4 Polluted Delta
1 Scalding Tarn
1 Flooded Strand
3 Island
2 Swamp
2 Underground Sea
1 Library of Alexandria
1 Strip Mine

SB:
1 Engineered Explosives
1 Basilisk Collar
2 Dismember
2 Mishra's Factory
1 Sower of Temptation
1 Surgical Extraction
1 Pithing Needle
2 Yixlid Jailer
4 Leyline of the Void

I didnt record people's last names so I apologize if I spell them wrong/remember them wrong

Match 1- Tom Dixon playing Remora Gush Gro

Game 1- I win the die roll drop a land and pass.  He drops a library draws off it and plays a ruby.  I drop a bob on my turn and pass.  He then drops remora, which I don't have the counterspell for so I immediately realize I am going to be buried in card advantage if I let the game go on much longer.  I end up getting a runechanters pike out and he didnt read the card so he just drops a goyf figuring he can at least block and trade with my bob.  I equip the pike and with the use of Time Walk, Noxious Revival and Snapcaster Mage I take 3 extra turns so I can swing for the win, he only sees 1 force off his 15 card hand, which I have a force for.

I sideboard in dismember, basilisk collar, and sower for hurky's, mindbreak trap and skullclamp
Game 2- He green sun zenith's for 2 early in the game I figure hes getting goyf instead he gets scavenging ooze which in turn makes the 2 snapcaster's and runechanter's pike I draw awful, I try to answer his ooze by imaging it but he drops a trygon which puts me in a huge hole that I wasn't able to recover from.

I sideboard in the second dismember for a runechanter's pike
Game 3- Liliana was pretty amazing in this game taking out a couple of his creatures and ripping through his hand.  I almost get killed by bob, who takes me down to 3, basilisk collar ends up bringing my life back up to 7 before the game is over.

Note to self: I did not plan well for trygon predator or scavenging ooze
1-0-0

Match 2- Mickey playing Nick Detwiler's Stax list

Game 1- He wins the die roll and locks me out of the game with sphere effects, beats me with a factory, then drops lodestone and metamorph which i just scoop to.

I sideboard in 2 factories, sower, 2 dismember, and 1 engineered explosives for 2 mental misstep, misdirection, skullclamp, liliana and jace
Game 2- I steel sabotaged his turn 1 crucible which ends up preventing him from recurring the factory and wasteland he played later in the game.  He drops a chalice at 1 and 2, to my hand of trinket mage and a large number of 2 drops.  I top deck a black lotus to drop my Mage, I search up engineered explosives drop it and blast all his mana artifacts and chalices after his upkeep, letting him take damage from crypt.  I then drop a bunch of creatures from my hand and beat him down.

Game 3- I drop a snapcaster and a clique, while he drops crucible, waste, factory, and some lock pieces.  I beat on him with my clique for a while my snapcaster keeps his factory from attacking, since he wouldn't have any other blockers.  I end up getting him to 8 life with a time walk in my hand and I pass the turn.  He drops Karn, I think it was his only out at this point, which destroys all my moxes and generates an army capable of racing me.  he ends up making  a missplay by attacking with one of his thorns i block it with the snapcaster. This then allows me to have enough mana to time walk on my turn and swing for 6 damage, when his life total was at 6 after tomb damage on his turn.  We both agreed though that if it wasn't for my earlier missplay of dropping engineered explosives at 3 instead of 2 it wouldn't have mattered.

This was a pretty epic match and i had a lot of fun.
2-0-0

Match 3- Mike playing show and tell oath
Game 1- He doesnt draw a second land for a while and I gain a strong foothold on the game with bob, library, and a misdirection on his ancestral recall, which he is unable to recover from after pike puts him on a quick clock.

I sideboard in engineered explosives, sower, and 2 mishra's factory for 1 swamp, strip mine, hurkyl's and a mental misstep
Game 2- He again gets mana screwed and i again get enormous card advantage off an early bob.  he tries to show and tell twice the first I have a phantasmal image for and the second I have a Liliana of the veil for.

I don't really like winning two games off my opponent's mana screw like that.
3-0-0

Match 4- Matt playing show and tell oath
Game 1- I beat him down with a spirit token equipped with a runechanter's pike, after i forced his turn 2 orchard oath and he drew a ton of mana sources.

I sideboard in engineered explosives, sower, and 2 mishra's factory for 1 swamp, strip mine, hurkyl's and a mental misstep
Game 2- he drops a turn 2 i think orchard oath.  I then drop a liliana to sacrifice the spirit he gave me.  He then just passes.  I drop a trinket mage search up engineered explosives and roll up my liliana to 2 and pass hoping he doesnt mill into dragon's breath.  He doesn't so the next turn i liliana his oath creature and explosives his oath and start swinging.
4-0-0

I then draw the next two rounds to get into the top 8 and go get some food, and by some i mean a footlong sub and a burrito.

Top 8
Round 1- I'm in the feature match against Brian playing Night's Whisper Gush

Game 1- I misstep his first turn fastbond drop 3 bobs, one of which is forced, and a vendilion clique and just kept swinging.

Side boarded in surgical, explosives, and pithing needle for hurkyl's, mindbreak trap, and runechanter's pike  (I really don't think i side boarded correctly)
Game 2- I get him into top deck mode while I'm sculpting my hand but he ends up dropping vault key before i can kill him or find counter magic.

Game 3- I keep a decent hand and turn 1 ponder for force.  I pass he drops turn 1 tinker bsc with force back up.  I probably should have played this differently but i grab my ponder back with my revival and try to dig for an answer which i dont find.  In retrospect i shouldve drawn the trinket mage off the top, searched for lotus and played snapcaster ponder which wouldve given me more mana to work with and an extra card although the odds were still tremendously against me.

He just out brokened me in this one.

Best card's of the day were by far and away Bob, Liliana, and of course force of will, from the sb engineered explosives

Worst card's of the day: Lotus petal would've been better as a land, i boarded hurkyl's out in like every match up, and i dont think i even got a chance to cast skullclamp or demonic tutor all day

A big thanks to Shawn Griffiths for lending me cards that I need to play this and for driving close to 10 hours.  And of course to Nick, Nick, and the brothers grimm for a great event.

Overall I had a lot of fun playing, eating, and on the drive with Allen and Shawn, with the exception of the ever elusive convenience store.

Congrats Lance. That Fishy homebrew looks awesomely fun to play.

Your top eight opponent was Brian, and the person you spent 10 hours in a car with is Allen not Alan.
