We had 16 players brave the cold and snow.  Although this tournament was advertised as cutting to a  top 8, a majority of players agreed to a top 4 playoff instead.   If only Nat Moes had showed up, then we would have had 17 and a top 8 playoff Smile   Still, the competition was intense - as all of these folks compete in the Team Serious/Meandeck Opens for the past two years and beyond now, and we had mutiple Vintage CHamp Top 8 competitors, including 2012 players (one of the Dredge guys).  I am not the TO, but I was handed the top decklists, which I said I'd post:

The Top 4 playoff was:

Semi-Finals:

Anthony over Jacob

Finals:
Stephen over Anthony

Metagame was VERY heavy on shops.    I don't have all of the decklists, but there were only 2 Burning Tendrils, 1 Dredge, 1 Combo Elves, 1 2-card Monte, 1 RUG Delver (5th place), at least 5-6 MUD decks, and probably 3-4 Grixis style control decks.

I'll be writing a tournament report so if you have any questions, I'll answer them in my report.

I look forward to the report. Congrats on the finish Steve.

How about Ryan's sideboard? What is more important than Burning Long's sideboard?  Wink

A shame that top 4 was how it was, but hey the Blue decks had to get beaten out at some point right? I expect alot of people to hop on the Burning Wish wagon after results like these.

(2 out of 16 on Burning Wish, finish 1st and 4th)

Very nice report and congrats!

(Ryan's SB more than likely looks like Steves or has a gameplan similar)

Steve's SB has alot of thought put into it so I will enjoy playing this variation of Burning Tendrils.

Ryan played my exact list from my last article (the Mud matchup article here: http://www.themanadrain.com/index.php?topic=44798.0).   I updated the OP with this sideboard.

The tournament was a blast and it was a great way to close out the year. I hope everyone can make the next one and we can continue to grow the vintage scene out here in Ohio.

Also, in 3rd Place, the last name should be "Hilty" not "Hilly."

You know that Grandma Moes 2 0'ed Bobby Fischer during a speed chess match near New York right?  Even the Sith should show some respect...

True. Also true: Grandma's nickname was "Flash" on her high-school basketball team.

Sorry you think your family's lame, Steve. I like hanging out with mine more than I like hanging out with Vintage players.

I thought Bill Copes was the man until I witnessed Grandma Moes gargle with peanut butter.

Family's great.  But there is a limit to the amount of time sane people can spend roasting in heated homes or by fireplaces gorging on carbs and dead animals.  Most people go stir crazy after a few days of that. I say the absolute  limit is four.  Less if squealing children are involved.
